i got a couple of these from total chaos with my 09 pismo jamboree gift certificate and got to install one tonight.

its pretty straight forward and covered in depth on the web so ill just add what i learned i needed

1. c-clip pliers
2. 6-10ish oz of cv grease (two packages for me = 6 oz)
3. 5" hose clamp from home depot (dont get the 5-7" one. its too big)

the grease was just some stuff they had behind the counter at autozone. its cv grease so its going to be over rated for the stress the inner joint will see. i ended up with 6 oz and i bet it could have held 10 oz completly packed to the brim but 6 should be fine. i know lots of people use 4 oz without issue

the boot itself requires some trimming and the original boot is cut to use its tulip section.
i made a video cause i couldnt find the camera

im changing out the other one that came with the truck. i split the inner boot at that night run.

this boot can be moved to other axles if need be. i think mainly the outers bust in the rocks on the 3rd gens.

I've never seen an inner bust. The only inner failures I've seen are online and due to way to much wheel spin and the inner stub shaft breaks off inside of the diff.

yeah that makes sence. we have a totaly differnt wheeling here then 90% of the nation. man a cv goes in alot easier in my driveway then at aftershock. lol like 35 minutes total.

so far ive busted one outer axle and tore holes in two inner cv boots. the two holes have been on the cvs that came with the truck so id expect they were old as sin
