With summer winding down up here, I'm starting to put together my winterization to-do list for my 4Runner. One thing I need to fix is my rear window defrost. My lab has slobbered all over the exposed heating lines and they are corroded in places. I only have 3 lines working right now. I plan to wipe them down with a weak acid, maybe vinegar, to remove the corrosion, then apply the after-market goop they sell that reestablishes the conductivity.
Has anyone done this before?

I cleaned the window inside and out this weekend with regular Windex and it took off some of the corrosion on the heating lines. I didn't notice any non-corroded material coming off, so I will probably give some watered down white vinegar a try down in a corner somewhere.
