got some hella 4000 lights

picked these up for $35 off of craigslist. they need a bulb and harness, but i want to do a 55w HID kit. not sure what color to use, or what kit everyone likes for the money.

higher the kelvins the less light gets thrown out. Therefore a 4500 or 5000 is probably your best bet. I've seen people use 6000 and 6500 and it still throws out ample light though but it's definitely more blue vs the offwhite/white color.

6k is pure white. I have them in my head lights. there isn't any blue at all :)

I have the DDM 55W 5000K's in a set of Hella 700FF's, and they are excellent. The bulbs have a definite slight blue tint to them, if you want the highest output and purest white get 4500K (even these will have a slight "hid blue hue" to them, note that OEM HID's are around 4300K, and even those are obviously HID's).

MaK92-4Rnr: 6000K bulbs are absolutely not pure white, so either your lights aren't 6000K's or their whiteness is being shall we say "exaggerated."

The 55W output of the DDM's is nothing short of amazing, especially for the price:
