I'm in for both days... But of course you already know that :D

If anyone else is camping.. We should do a potluck Saturday night.. I can make a mean sloppy joe..
Troy, have you checked the weather for that area this weekend?

the weather is stablizing on thursday night for sunny 60/30 all through the weekend. id think that will mean very little winds. its a little chilly but with the sun 60 will feel nice and layers will be needed in the evening.

mark i think you will be well equiped for pontiace but a little low for motino with your tire size. i felt good on 35 with one locker. steve was confident on bald 33 and two lockers

NakSuKow i think you would like both runs. pontiace will include some mine exploring as well.

I need a much more mild run to get used to the rig

updated lots of info. pontiac looks pretty easy. id say a stock rig would make it with some scrapes of the undercarriage. looks like your better off to have a mildly lift/tire rig for security

You might struggle a bit and get hung up on link brackets and and crossmembers. We can pull you through or stack if needed and unstack when all of us are through.
Theres one section that where a rock face got reallllly close to troy's very rear most quarter window.. We got him through with no damage though.

So if your up for it then come out. It'll probably challenge your driving skills but it is a really fun trail.

NakSuKow

SWEET! :guitar:

Troy can get you coords to the camp spot where I suppose you can come meet us sunday morning!

I'm just waiting for troy to make final meeting point saturday morning so I can let a buddy of mine know..

troyboy162
10-06-2010, 05:44 PM
meeting spot for both days will be point "B" in the links above. i think the route from riverside was missleading. it was just ment to be a sample route that most people will be taking.

i have not run that forest road but i would think it should be well marked. please let me know if that will be too remote a meeting spot and we can arrange something normal. i just figured from all points south it dosnt make sence to drive all the way into big bear only to drive all the way east to pontiac/mottino.

Meeting point is good for me. Let me know if you need me to bring anything.

troyboy162
10-06-2010, 07:30 PM
yes we will convoy out from the meeting spot to get over there

troy, how long are these mines that we are exploring? also we doing any crawling/vertical climbing? trying to see if the lantern would sufficient or if we need to bring flashlights as well.

troyboy162
10-08-2010, 03:02 PM
they are all small by cali standards but shootingstar is the largest i know of in big bear. but even as the largest is hase only about a 1/4 mile of tunnels or less. its not very hard core so no helmets will be needed and you can explore the whole thing in ten minutes. no ladders or climbing gear required

i wouldnt bother with a big lantern, there are no large rooms and a small flashlight will be fine

Scuba
10-08-2010, 04:50 PM
Bring the lantern in case we can't have a fire!
