Hey guys, I've been lurking UY for a while but never posted so I thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm local to the Austin area and was a regular on TS before my truck was wrecked. I think I'm still newbie status on YT. I don't post much on either forum now. Maybe UT is the forum for me.

I drive a 1997 Toyota 4Runner, 150K miles, auto, 4WD, a lot of maintenance things had to be addressed, because the PO didn't but it's been a nice reliable daily since then.

Anyways, just thought I'd say hi.

It's been slightly cheaper since I do the majority of the work myself, but yeah, it needs new tires and more repairs.

Thanks, I will.

I've had a terrible time trying to find out of 285/75s will rub on the UCA, so I went ahead and bought some .24" spacers anyways. Tires should be mounted next week or so.

Haha, yep. I rebuild old Volvos as a hobby and I always have at least 2 on hand. The 4Runner is usually the parts runner for when I'm doing work.

Some of my more recent projects:

I sure hope so. I've done some light wheeling out to camp grounds and such but I doubt I'll ever do any real trails.

Heh. I have a 142 that's supposed to be mine. But that's a long story. Maybe you could fix it. :P

Sorry, I only mess with OHC motors. If it was a 240, I may be able to help.

Just joined Ultra-Newbie. I have a 2001 Tacoma 4X4 TRD that I (mostly carefully) wheel to remote places in the Western US and Baja Mexico in search of the spectacular. I bought this truck used with 165K highway miles and after a year of traveling, a few things have come up requiring attention.

The write-up here on UY for the 4Runner/Tacoma front axle replacement was the best I found after a while of searching. This forum has a cool helpful vibe.

I pledge to give back and post my experiences wrenching on my truck, as soon as I figure out what I'm doing . . . I just wish I could buy a brand-new 1989 4Runner SR5 . . . the last iteration of the first generation. I loved that truck!
