Like the manual you keep in the glove box? Or a 3rd gen with a manual transmission. Here in CA they are hard to come by. I've got one and it's the only one I came across in the 50+ I looked at while looking for mine. There is a thread on Expedition Portal that used to be updated with 3rd gens. Mostly because people were looking for low mile, '99-'00 with the elocker.

Here it is:

It was started by Slomatt, he's on UY from time to time.

You're located in southern California, right?

I've been keeping an eye out for any other "leads", but nothing has shown up recently.

I'm in Sacramento and traveled 3 hours for my '99, manual, highlander 4runner. It had 84K miles and he wanted $10k 3 years ago. Needless to say I pretty much bought it over the phone.

Paddlenbike and I have 5 speeds with the e locker and we've both gotten PM's from people on forums offering to buy them.

There are several on autotrader. Here's a search for a 3rd gen 4x4 5speed within 100 miles of Oakland. Click "modify" to change the search criteria.

Thanks I will check that out....and 4WD is also what I need up here in the mountains! I really was going to try a taco but don't really need a truck although the 4dr with the short bed looked pretty nice........

conigirl, I'm in the same boat you are. I've been looking for a low mileage 99 or 00 5spd 4Runner for a while. Really hard to find. There was one in Ohio a couple weeks ago, and I was going to drive up and buy it, but somebody beat me to it by a day. Only had like 86k or so on it. I've just about given up, so I've been leaning towards just getting a 4th gen.

Anyways, if I spot a 5spd 4runner in your area during my search, I'll post it in this thread.

I see them here in Denver, 3rd gens, manual trans. with the E-locker, the real SAD part is, most never see a trail, and the ones that Ive talked to, none know what the RR DIFF button is :(

Found one like mine but no e-locker. You would have to go to Illinois to get it:

You can also try this: http://www.themccumbers.com/States.htm

It doesn't look as good as the search engine Sean posted, but it does let you search a whole state at once.
