Has anyone figured out how to safely put on chains on the front tires of a 3rd Gen (1998) T4R?

My manual says to only put them on the rear. I talked to a guy with a Tacoma and he put tire chains on the front tires and the extra links after you tighten the chains ripped out his break lines - yikes!!

I thought of finding a way to secure the extra links of the tire chains on the inside of the tires with zip ties or a chain link that has one side that is threaded so it can retract, attach to two links and then be the opening in the link can be closed with a the threaded sleeve. It kind of looks like a locking carabiner or locking d-ring.. Any thoughts?

I had a very scary experience off-roading when I lost steering due to by front tires being too clogged with mud. So I am trying to find a solution. What are your thoughts??

Lower air pressure off road.

What kind of tires are you running? Are you planning on trying to run chains only off road? Or on thew road under certain conditions?
