I may have posted a similar thread a few months ago.. I didn't bother to check.

With that said.. what the hell! I've got this number that calls me... it's not a real number because when I try to call it I get a message from my cell provider saying the number is no longer in service. Plus it has one number more than it should. 505-860-03110. Good 'ol Google can't provide me with anything on this number either.

They've been calling on and off for a few months now. They speak some English, know my name, but have a thick accent, possibly Mexican accent. They call repeatedly if I answer or not. When I do answer all I get is them saying "Hallo..hello.. Cody? " I try to talk to them, but that's the extent of what I can get. Plus.. how the hell do they know my name!?

They haven't called in maybe a month until today. Then I get a call at 9:00am, 9:01am x2, 9:23am, 9:24am, 10:56am, 1:28pm, 1:31pm. I had turned my ringer off last night before bed, so I didn't even know they were calling until I checked my missed calls.

I really don't want to get my number changed just because of one person.

Anyone have any weird stuff like this happen? I mean I've got a lot of harassing calls before when I owed creditors money... but nothing like this. Plus my debts are paid now, so it's not that. :screwy:

call up your provider and ask for the number to be blocked.

Any discernable accent? A number of countries use an 11 digit phone number format. Try googling "11 digit phone number" for some more info

Meh, just key up some dvd's. Scenes from last season's Dexter work well too. Follow up by Beavis and Butthead Soundboards and screw them back IMHO.

*You don't have any missing friends do you, the kind that might end up in a TJ prison for spanking the lady playing with the burro?

If you DO end up changing your number, I'd recommend getting a google voice account. They will give you your own separate phone number and it'll forward all calls to your normal number. It's pretty cool. Give out your new REAL number ONLY to trusted people and give the Google Voice number to everybody else. With google voice it is VERY easy to blacklist callers. It'll even give the caller a busy signal.

If you want more info PM me.

That sounds like a good idea. Tomorrow I need to buy a whistle and a set of ear plugs.

*This is weird..anyone else experiencing this situation..

Apparently for the past 3 weeks my wife keeps getting spam texts to her cell phone.

Something like "Cash Advance Now" or some other bit of nonsense..

I asked "Please say you did not reply w/ "Stop" as the texts usually say?"

She said "No, I replied."

:chair: Never, never acknowledge those texts, if you do they got you knowing it is indeed a mobile phone. They generate them and you get charged for replying something like $1 or $2 per reply. Scam/Spam at it's best, they generate cash flow by baiting you and the number if you call it is a fake.

I know AT&T uses 7726 aka "SPAM" for reporting and blocking/investigating this stuff, is it the same for other providers??

I've been getting random calls lately (which I never answer) and when it goes to a voicemail I get a few seconds of random Spanish, I believe it's automated.

I called a guy a few weeks ago for work. His answering machine said something to the effect that he was being investigated by the Office of Homeland Security. All incoming calls and phone numbers were screened and added to the Office of Homeland Security database. It sounded very real with case numbers and the whole bit. It was pretty good...I almost hung up. I'm sure it would keep some folks away.

I once had this spanish lady calling us at 5 or 6am for weeks. I finally answered the phone one day and said some rather choice works in spanish and she never called back. You would think after calling a dozen times she woulda figuered out she was dialing the wrong number?

You would think they'd realize...

I once had this lady call me looking for her boyfriend. I got tired of telling her I didn't know him, and I wasn't his friend that she thought I was... so I started playing along. So for about 3 days I gave her shit every time she called.. telling her how her b/f said if she wasn't over in 30minute he was throwing all her clothes out in the yard(It was pouring rain that day)..all kinds of good stuff. She was NOT happy. She finally called an apologized on the 3rd day when she realized I was who I said, and not her b/f's friend.

:D Soundboards FTW.. "Most annoying sound ever?" as the reply when bothered worked great today for a pal. It was almost as good as the Beavis and Butthead one!

We're gonna try Star Wars next time. :D
