Those that know me, know that Ive always said from when this forum was started, its the best out there,, and that I wished I knew more, about our 4runner so I could post more helpfull info, but you all know more than I do, so I cant post good info very often, lol
IMHO its the member along with the staff, that makes a forum what it is :tongueout:

Im in the same boat as you, wishing i knew more so i could help people more often
also, this forum is definitely the best yota forum as far as bein helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.. and you are right, the staff and members are responsible.. but its also the mentality, the staff created this website knowing EXACTLY what they did not want it to be, thus creating an awesome site

I still think a V bulletin based forum would be a lot more friendly and possibly attract more people but..

side track but yeah the site has bad searching but V bullitin costs money and this ones probably free. PHPBB is what i ended up with for my forum and it didn't look as nice as this one.
still side track. how much does Vbullitin cost these days? i just looked and you can convert SMF to vbullitin.
edit just looked it up... its $195 to buy. apparently cheaper to lease but that wouldn't make good sense. fund raiser?

You took the words out of my mouth. The only reason I rarely visit this forum.
Other than that, I agree with Ric.

Somebody tell me the difference?
I like that this forum doesnt mark everything as "read" every time I visit the forum, it only marks what I read as read. So if I see a posting that I want to read and want to go back to it later, it's still marked as "new" next time around.
edit: now that I think about it, I never actually browse the forums using the forum structure, I just look at what's new on the left side of the front page.

[O/T]Keep this format!! I like it and it makes UY unique dammit!
As for the main topic, I guess that you guys tolerate me in here so you all can't be that bad can you?
Of course I'm a loser/poser who never wheels anyhow.. :tongueout:

Same here.
Also, I like that when I come to this forum I see real content right away. If I were a new guy looking for a Yota forum, and you showed me this place and YT, I'd choose UY right off.
When I go to YT I have to scroll before I see something other than adds. It's way to cluttered for me.

true, the site is UY as we know it and thats a GOOD thing.
when i think about how i view YT, pirate and ttora as "full of douche bags" its not because they are. its because they are huge and douche bags post more then average people lol

having managed a vb forum, its not the easiest to manage from the back end.
i LOVE this forum, and if i was going to start my own, i would also use SMF.

ROFL.. Some of have to really SSSSSSCCCCRRRRROOOLLLLL. ;) How many stickies does a place need anyhow.
OK, enough of that, I'm not supposed to be griping about other forums. :D

I like the forum layout, but maybe that is just because I'm used to it. I have met some people who said they would visit more, but they couldn't figure the forum out. It seems pretty easy to me, so I dunno what they couldn't figure out.
It did take me a while to figure out that the "Forum Index" tab was actually clickable, and not just the items in the drop down menu being clickable. That helped a lot when I figured that out. :hillbill:

Oh, and what's the difference in formats? I like this one, but I'm not much of a forum browser... I think I've belonged to 3 in my lifetime... a Christian one when I was like 14, NarniaWeb, and this one :P

haha classic UY off track post, but for me its all about the site search function. i cant find things here even when i know what im looking for. the forum format can be the same as VB but this SMF has a nice portal (front page) and we all just use that to navagate since the amount of new posts per day is never over 5-8.

i will agree the search is completely useless. ive never been able to find anything with it.

:D O/T? Well, sort of, but in my mind here's the correlation to the topic and why I posted the pic. Aside from the drama that always happens online that picture represents a lot to me. Nine people, nine different backgrounds, yet, much like this and another forum I am a part of we gathered together to talk and wheel. Yeah, a bit sappy to some but that's one way friendships are created these days. :drink: We all found one another through Toyota, and a good majority of us spend time in them. Even more so onto topic, this forum, although not heavy in traffic, is known for being a good place to go and full of possibilities and tech.
The day will come when things work out and I can finally join n on the Jamboree and more wheeling time that is not "Work". Without this forum and dealing with certain entities and people that passion to do so wouldn't be here.

i like most of you guys. there are a few of you that piss me off frequently enough that my family only knows your name attached to a few curse words. those people are everywhere, and this place seems to have proportionally fewer. this is a wonderful place to be, and BY FAR better than any other forum i have ever been on, including several that i worked for. we never have flaming, and rarely annoying posts. people here are respectful, and for the most part dont post crap. everyone is willing to help, even when its something the person should have searched for.
i wouldnt trade this place for anything in the world. screw world peace, i like my ultimateyota friends!
to the people that piss me off: keep on keeping on... its nice i have someone to direct my anger at that has no idea im pissed off at them. :D :flipoff:

I agree with Jason in that i love that this forum software only marks posts as read when i have actually opened them... i hate that other forums only show you whats new since the last time u visited. vbulletin and phpBB have both pissed me off for that.. with that in mind, i completely agree that the search on SMF is a complete waste of time.
otherwise, i love UY

While we're at it, how in God's name do you easily find a thread that someone started?
Seanz0rz
01-16-2011, 04:28 PM
click on their name, and on the next page, click on "show the last posts of this person"
or if you know what sub forum it was in, you can look through those pages.
YotaFun
01-16-2011, 04:45 PM
There is a button that says "show post this person has started"
but everytime I hit it there is an error and i always forget to note that.
Whitey
01-16-2011, 07:00 PM
So instead of going to "Show thread started by this person" I have to scroll through every post they've ever made to find what I'm looking for?

You can also do an enhanced search and narrow it down by username.
