For me it's about 68-72 MPH on the highway assuming no wind and flat terrain.
It will usually give me about 21-22 MPG as long as I feather the throttle well.

Just curious what you guys have seen?

70MPH or below = 20-21MPG. Anything above dropped my MPG by about 2 or so.

Do you 3rd gen'ers have a display that shows you instantaneous mpg?

nope, wish they did!!! or maybe not because i would be pissed off all the time at getting about 16.

I notice I get a lot better milage when I stay in the 90-100km/hr range. Sometimes I work at certain customers, and up driving an 80km/hr 2 lane road every day and will get 40km more per tank then normal.
Normal for me is about 370kms per tank, 55L fill up typically. Recently I all of a sudden got 430kms on a tank, going to the above mentioned customers.
Ironically my 4Runner isn't idling quite right (cycles up and down a bit), I probably need plugs and wires.

For me my gas lasts the longest when i leave it parked for a while.
When i start driving the level in the tank diminishes quickly usually around 16-18mpg range.

Driving 2,800 miles from San Diego, CA to Pennsylvania I averaged around 18mpg. The MPG was about 16 in Arizona because of the hill climbs though and I was averaging around 75mph. Considering the bumper, the tires, and the camber a tad off I was pleased with the results.

The best I have EVER gotten was coming back from Big Bear where I averaged 23 MPG at aroun 65mph. Eric and I were keeping close to Mike (Blacksheep) because that's a pretty good speed for Mike's 40" MTRs.

I actually use my Auterra to check and it comes out pretty much the same as calculating it at fillups.

Last summer while going to the Oregon Coast for a week on the beach, [ FUN ] the 4Runner averaged 22.5 mpg. 3.4 with 265/85/16 tires, 5th gear, driving just below 70 on I-84.

This year might be a bit different, 285/75/16 tires.

Anyone know where you can get one of the gages that tells you as your driving how much
gas your using?
If I keep my Tacoma set at 65-68 on the xway I get my best mileage. Most people around
here do 75-80 so I just stay in the slow lane.Mike

I know quite a few people bought these (there was a group buy for $130 each but usually they're about $150-160).

I see around 20-22, depending on the stupid cross wind. I travel a lot on two lane roads with rolling hills. Its best to shut the cruise down at that time and ride the hills.

I can get as high as 22-23mpg at 60-65mph with flat terrain, and about 20 at 70mph with hilly terrain. That's with an auto, 4.30 gears (stock), 285's, and a supercharger with the fuel mods.

Yeah I cruise highway about 70 +/- 4mph and get a solid 17mpg. Though 3" lift and alternate btwn 295 AT's and 285 MT's .

When I get a chance to get up to 70 I get about 18-20mpg, but I drive mostly in town so I get about 16.

On the hwy I think mine is best at about 68mph. Gas station to gas station hwy driving I can get as much as 22mpg but that is driving like a Grandma. Really gradual on ramp accelerations... No passing gear drops...

Normal driving on the hwy at 70-80 I am getting 17 mpg.
