One of things I've been wanting to get for like 6 years is a motorcycle. It pains me to browser shop for motorcycles, knowing there's no way that I can afford one.
I was just looking at the new 2011 Aprilia Shiver 750, and for the record... I want it!

Also, I'm really digging the 2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 750.. and I've never been a big fan of the super motard style. I think those are my current 'Top 2' of wants (1200 pictured, not the 750).

Revised list of wants: 2011 Yamaha FZ8, 2011 Honda Hornet, 2009 Buell Lightning XB12, 2011 KTM SuperMoto 990(second favorite motard style), 2011 Ducati Hypermotard 796(or 1100), 2011 Ducati Monster 795(or 1100), 2010 Triumph Bonneville, 2010 Triumph Scrambler, and 2011 BMW F800R.
I think if I didn't get the Aprilia's listed.. I'd definitely consider the Ducati Hypermotard and the KTM SuperMoto. I also have always liked the Buell Lightning XB line, and I think it'd be cool if Harley started making a street figher style bike to replace the Buell Lightning.

Huh, I'm not sure I really like the look of those Aprillas. I can't explain why... Of course, I know nothing about the stats and such. :P Some of those others are pretty sweet looking though. I've personally always liked Ninjas.

Yeah, the closest thing on my list to the Kawasaki you like is the Daytona 675. Otherwise, most of the ones on my list are naked bikes/no fairings.
bikes are so much fun, even more fun getting on a track, either for a track day, but moreso actually racing, I also browse the ads for a good used bike from time to time.

I don't know much about bikes, but I like the looks of the Ducatis and the old school Harleys (I think?) used to race around the dirt tracks.
I always thought it would fun to build a bike, but I'd be too scared to ride it. Too many crazy drivers out there. :chair:
I much prefer a super motard or a dual sport, big harley (YECH) style cruiser is just useless for me and the sportbikes are fun but geez talk about trying to hard not to do 100+ mph..way to tempting for me.

Oooooh Ducati's are sexy!
I've never rode a motorcycle, only a little tiny motorized thing, which I crashed into a fence because my friend forgot to tell me how to brake :P

fenrisx, looked at one of those myself two weeks ago over here in Livermore listed at about $9,500 with what I'd want, nice handling and plenty of fun. Too bad my family won't let me ever own another one..it's bad enough hanging with one of my friends and having to sit there looking at this: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2688/4440166622_5b673d9712_z.jpg?zz=1
*LOL..raise your hand if you've laid a bike down hard and/or wrecked. :spit:

I've only had my fair share of dirt bike crashes... which I know isn't even close to being the same.
Oh yes.. the 1098 and 848 are both beautiful bikes. I'd hate to have a friend who owned one, knowing that I couldn't, as selfish as that sounds.. tis true.
My friend at my last job before I moved up from Georgia always road dual sports. He loved them. The last time I went down to visit he had traded his Kawi KLX450 for a Kawi KLR650.. or it was a KLX250 for a 450. I forget which. He wanted a street fighter type bike, but said he was happy with his dual. He came from big Harley cruisers mainly, and an old Buell Lightning (S1).

:good: that would be my problem too...
but on the subject of bikes, i dont like the naked bikes.. never have, probably never will. this is my style ;)

*Mods, I wish to report this thread. It isn't tech related to Toyota 4x4's and is causing a problem in my household b/c we need to save $ and if anything spend that on a 3rd or 4th Gen 4Runner, or maybe home $$, definitely not a bike.
Raquel said I can quote her as saying "Shame on all of you, shame, shame, shame. Get back to tech!"
If this thread is not deleted the wife's promising to hide my laptop while in Mexico and then drop off our rig along with me to the local federales for heavy interrogation and possible refusal of rights. :flipoff:

I partially agree on the Bimmer, but I'd rather take the twin (upright) cylinder F800GS so I don't have to worry about those goofy opposing cylinders taking a whack when it gets laid over ;). Ok, now you have me daydreaming again - it doesn't take a whole lot to modify a bike into something it wasn't originally, and with the plentiful supply of old Japanese iron there is alot of canvas available
How about giving some love to a 1976 supercharged Goldwing? (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/Customs--modified-bikes/2009/June/jun0109-worlds-first-sexy-honda-goldwing/)

maybe an old Honda cafe racer . . .
http://thekneeslider.com/images/cb750cafe2.jpg
. . . or a newer Honda cafe racer for those days when you want to put a finger in death's rib cage . . .
http://honaha.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/caferacer3.jpg?w=509&h=382
. . . but there's always (if you can find one) the Kawi Triple 750cc 2 stroke for those other days when you want to kick death in the nads

Honestly, I like the new Kawi ER-6n. They're good for beginners without having to worry about 'growing' out of it. Plus it's the street figher/naked bike style that I like. Plus, they're under $7k new, vs the roughly $10k for the Aprilias.
I may be in a position I Could get a bike about this time next year. I think something like a used Suzuki DRZ400SM would be a fun bike for around $4k. Local one on CL:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j30/racin4jc/DRZ400SM.jpg
It's too bad Yamaha doesn't make a bigger version of the WRX250. It looks pretty nice, but I think the 250 would be a bit lacking for anything other than around town.(Edit: Apparently the 250 Yami does fine 'pacing Cali traffic at 80mph' due to its revvy engine. There's a good review of the 09 on motorcycle.com) I think Suzuki is the only one of the 'big 4' that makes a 400+CC supermoto.

What's my problem.. in the past two days I've went from somewhat liking the supermotos... to flat out loving them. That DRZ... love it. The WR250X... love it.
I need a new job because I'm really jonesin' for a bike. I should have kept my 01 KX250 and SM'd it out... though I don't see them letting me register a 2-stroke.
Anyone want to buy a 4Runner? jk.
