My good buddy's , friends parents are missing

" quote "
One of my good friend's parents are missing. Last seen getting gas and snacks at a gas station in Oregon. They were on their way to Vegas taking a more scenic route as opposed to the freeway. If any of you guys could post on some other boards that are in the NW US, just to spread the word and maybe get some other eyes out there on the back roads or wherever. Thanks.

looks like the woman was found in fair condition.

it is not looking good for her husband though.

so sad and so amazing she was able to survive for nearly 2 months!

Wow, I wonder how she survived? And that's really sad about her husband. :/ I find it amazing that nobody spotted the vehicle for 2 months!

thanks for the update Sean. That's an amazing story or survival for the wife - 7 weeks on trail mix and creek water.

I'm wondering how they took the wrong turn which got them stuck or stranded. The story says they had a GPS, but if they didn't mark "Offroad" as one of the things to avoid in the route . . .

gps is terrible. you really need some common sense to use it, something which most people lack, especially with gadgets.

a number of years ago i had a carPC and went to mt. st. helens. i typed in the destination (software was about 6 months old), even though i knew the route. i muted it and drove the way i knew how to get there. once there i looked at the computer, and it had directed me up the old road, which has been buried under 500 feet of lahar since 1980. we had a chuckle about it. about a year later i am talking to a friend who was in the midst of a around the country drive, and he relayed the same thing to me, although he followed the gps, not knowing better. it caused him to lose 2 hours of drive time.

people are getting to the point of getting in their car, punching in a destination, and driving. i always overview my gps route, and more often than not end up changing it, telling it to avoid this road or take this road instead because i know enough to know i dont want to be on that particular tiny road, or it takes me through a part of town that is less than desirable.

Semi-trucks being lead over highway 108 comes to mind.

or for those of us central-coast folk, semis being led up or down Harris grade >.<
