Anyone ever had this one come up? P0125 reads:Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Closed Loop Fuel Control.

Truck is running fine and the service light came on all of a sudden. All I've had time to do was pull the code. I did skim through this though.

All I checked was the PCV. The valve and hose look fine and as they always have. I'm not sure how to check for much else in the trouble area portion of page one so I thought I'd ask if anyone has been down this road before.

It looks like I'm getting a manufacturer specific code as well, P1130: A/F Sensor Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1 Sensor 1).

So with some more browsing it looks like I need the o2 sensor before the cat. It appears that this is somewhat common and hopefully it'll solve the problem and I won't be throwing money at this. I've got a mini vacation coming next week with some driving and I'd like to get this up and running.

Again, if anyone here has had this and can give some insight I'd appreciate it.

I searched TIS for you this morning and your on the right track with needing to replace the A/F Sensor, the two codes coincide with there being an open or short in the A/F sensor circuit.

Double check the wires before you do replace the Sensor to make sure maky they didn't fall on the exhaust or some how got broken.

I'll try to get you a pin out of where you need to look.
You have a manual or auto?

Thanks Avy. I've got an manual transmission. I just put my daughter down for a nap so I'm going to go pull the sensor. It'll give me a chance to look at the wiring and bench test the sensor. Today is Sunday and Easter so the dealers are closed. By taking it out I'll be making sure it's the problem and I'll know I can get it out easily.

Yup yup
I saved the files for both codes plus a ECM terminal printout in PDF form, if you want to, shoot me a PM with your e-mail, and ill send them over.
I was LMAO at one procedure so you might want to look them over lol

PM is on it's way, thanks.

I spent 2 hours yesterday trying to access the wire plugs for the front sensor. On the 5 speed 4Runners the connection is on top of the transmission. I followed the wire back until I lost sight of it and then lost feel of it. I used two inspection mirrors and a flashlight just to see the plug. It's connected to a small angled bracket that is held with a bolt connected to the top of the transmission. In just trying to access that bolt I had to remove another which required an impact gun and 3 extensions plus a wobble.
The plug is a PITA. Since I haven't had a chance to get a new part I haven't removed anything but have worked at the plug. I think I'm going to have to break the connection with some pliers as it is stuck together good. I've read similar stories from other forums regarding the plug. I don't plan on breaking anything until I know I've got the parts to fix it.

Well it looks like everything is fixed now. New sensor installed and codes cleared. After 2 little test drives no more codes.

Here are the codes that tripped the MIL. P1135 showed up twice so there was a total of 4 codes.

After some internet time and some help from Avy I decided to bite the bullet and order a new AF sensor from the dealer. No one in town stocks them but it only took a day to get.

I was told this is a new part number. The bad sensor I pulled out was a Denso and the number on the part was 89467-35020 where as the new on is 35021. It cost me $267 out the door. From what I read these last around 75,000 miles. I suspect the one I pulled was original (125K mi) so I got my money's worth as long as this new one lasts a good while.

If the sensor didn't fix the problem chances are you're going to have to drop some coin replacing the ECM or injectors. All in all the fix was simple, just took a bunch time and labor to replace.

Glad to see that things are back in working order, though to really ensure all monitors are set and the problem is fixed, try to get on the highway, and set cruise control at 50 mph, after a few miles, 5 usually, all monitors (except evap) will set, if there is an o2 issue still the code will come back.

Well I did get on the highway and in the past 7 days I put on 1,200 miles. I wanted to make sure everything was alright so this was it's test. Actually we had the aforementioned trip and everything went well, no lights and great gas mileage. When reading up on this code guys were reporting 10 mpg, I never had any of that. Mileage stayed the same. After changing the sensor, loading up the vehicle with our bodies and gear we hit the road. These pics are the first tank I put through it.

A couple of things to mention. This portion of the trip was south from about Folsom, CA to Bakersfield, CA via hwy 50 to 99 (around 300 miles). We had the near stock 4Runner (just heavier) loaded with a Yakima roof rack and a 50 pound rear hitch rack with 2 bikes on it. The interior had 2 adults, a kid, an ice chest, 2 kid bike trailer, about 20 pounds in food and wine and about 5 duffels. It was hot so we had the AC on and the CC was set at 68 mph. This is the best mileage I've had with the 4Runner. At 300 hundred miles and 3/4 full my gague works out to be 25mpg. I've done that same drive and the best I've got was 22 mpg but more average 21.

As my trip progressed we hit mountain passes and a lot of wind. By the third tank mileage went down some and I'm positive it was the wind more than the terrain. This 200 miles through the second tank.

This pic was taken somewhere around Morro Bay, CA. We went as south as Solvang, CA and there are many more hills around there. Coming home 101 and 5 had a near headwind for close to 275 miles and was a bit of a pain because I had to hold the wheel to the left for hours while dodging drifting big rigs going 75 mpg. In all I calculated my average to be 22 mpg with the heavy rig and 1,200 miles, the best number was 26.6 at 3/4 of the first tank. I'm thinking the sensor had something to do with even though I had been averaging say 18+ mpg (mixed driving but mostly stop and go) with the old sensor.
