Saw this same type of thread in the 96-02 section...

When i road trip 65-70 mph can ussualy give me 22-23 mpg.
I believe its the perfect combination for my tires and gearing.

Its amazing, considering I only get about 13-15 in town.

How about you?

With 33's, an auto tranny, 4.88's, and a roofrack, I don't watch mpg. It makes me cry!

My 22R-E, 5spd 4Runner consistently gets 19 to 20 mpg in mixed city/hwy driving (but mostly city) with 32" tires and 4.56 gearing. Driving style doesn't seem to affect my numbers.

1999 Limited w/Auto
35" BFG/AT w/4.88 gears
Speedlimit of 65mph in some sections and 55mph in others. I try to stay around 60mph.

18MPG City/Hwy
20MPG HWY

I'll be running to Farmington on Saturday. I'll see what kind of mileage I can pull in during that trip.
