troy, by holcomb valley, do you mean 3n16? or are you planning on running holcomb creek? thats a medium from what i remember back in 07. otherwise, trails like jacoby canyon are awesome.

im planning my tiling around taking sunday off for a day off.

keep me informed. you have my cell as well (im only on the computer for a bit at a time) im itching to hit the trails though!

I guess its holcome creek. I havnt run it yet but I figured its about equal with gold mtn. Jacoby is always fun or even just hanging on the east side of the lake.

holcomb creek is my favorite trail of all time. i have a weird fascination with river beds. ever since i was little. let me know the details of where and when, and lexi and i will be there!

Hey Troy, are you still guys doing this run? I'm putting the lift and new tires on tomorrow, and Sunday would be a perfect time to get some wheeling in. Only problem is that I'll be at the Pala race the day before, so that might make for a really long tiring weekend for the family.
Let me see if I can convince them and I'll let you know if I can meet you out there ASAP.

what size tires and lift? Holcomb creek is on the lighter side of a black diamond trail. Annd...just got off the phone with Steve and he says sliders are manditory... sean are you up for a afternoon run to holcomb? Maybe we can make a day of it with some scenic trails thrown in to get JD out for some fun too?

i did holcomb creek without sliders or a locker or any body damage. i wouldnt recommend it, and i dont know how the trail has changed in the last 4 years.

im down for some jacoby canyon/ exploring. theres a bunch of places up there ive never been.

when we ran it way back when, we went the opposite way, from 3n16 west down 3n08, crossed 3n14, and went on to 3n16 and the rock garden pictured first. i enjoyed the east to west, but im up for either way. if we are already in holcomb valley, the way i described will make the most sense. it dumps you out very close to crab flats campground.

you know looking at the pictures. the sections are short enough to stack some rocks for JD??

Seanz0rz
09-07-2011, 07:51 PM
as i remember the trail, those sections are all pretty long. again, that was 4 years ago. our trip report: http://www.ultimateyota.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=2272.0

this is a bit of serious offroading. i dont mind helping him through, tow strap, spotting, etc. i just worry about unwanted breakage and damage.

i invited a guy who followed me home one day, hes got a pretty nice 3rd gen. not sure how much hes up for either.

troy, do some research on the trail and figure out if its something you want to attempt. i know its changed a bit since most people last ran it. otherwise some toying around with jacoby and exploring some of the offshoots from 3n16 and such should be fun.

Cool I'm also fine with doing holcomb another time. Now JD work your magic with your lady haha

And Bill we gotta get you over to the hammers some time for some rock bangin

After I posted I did some research on Holcomb,, and it does look pretty serious. Troy, I guess your idea of light to moderate is vastly different than mine! Haha. I definitely don't want to force a change of plans for you guys.
That said, though, we're all in if you're up for slightly mellower trail. I'm just doing a mild lift - 2.5" in front, .5" in back (the 4th gen has a serious rake, stock) with 32's.
Thanks for the offer Troy, but Pala is way south so Wrightwood will be way out of the way. We'll either stay in SB or Bear, depending on where the meetup is. Oh, and no CB yet, so I'll text you in the morning.
But again, if Holcomb is what you guys are set on, please don't switch up your plans just for me!

OK, the guy doing my suspension just ran to get his wife some emergency surgery, so no lift this week.
If the revised route will accommodate a stocker, we're still in. Or maybe you guys should just hit up Holcomb, and I'll catch you next time...

Sean thanks for the invite but I am busy on Sunday. the following Saturday the 17th we have a group going to Heartbreak ridge and are leaving the ranger station on Hwy 38 and Bryant at 7:10 am. Sorry I cant make this one.

Stocker run is fine by me. There are a tin of nice trails up there. We can probably manage to keep the paint scratches to a minimum this time

Jaydee914
09-08-2011, 12:14 PM
Light scratches are ok by me. They polish right out!
It's going to be killing me, driving around all those trails with a perfectly good lift kit and tires sitting in my garage!

Hey dont feel To bad. It mivht rain and i don't have a sunroof yet haha.

Troy, I'll bring a tarp and some duct tape for your sunroof.

troyboy162

I'm down for some stock stuff. find some trails you want to do. jacoby comes highly recomwnded. after that I'm out of ideas.

troyboy162
09-08-2011, 07:54 PM
I like jacoby alot too. for stock runs the east side of the lake and the south end have a bunch of good stuff though. best bet would be to follow a TTORA stocker run trail list. (still looking for the list)
