Dan, that would very likely be the center lugs on a set of General Grabbers. Ric, what do I win? :D
(Although I thought the sipe channels were pointed into each other, not clocked like that??)

Avy, I'll just keep quiet instead, everyone here has heard my opinion on that company. Looking forward to see them mounted up and a review written. ;)

Those look great,,,, But I thought it was ilegal to put retreds on front/steering axel,,, Or was that only for big rigs.

Okay, let me try that again.
Ric, did you call treadwright directly to request the MTR sidewall or did you just put it in the order notes for the online order?

Sorry YotaFun, I called them and asked for the Goodyear sidewalls, they did tell me that its first come first served, so I placed the order for 2 Guard dogs in a 285-70/17. they fill orders as they get the sides

Gotcha, and sorry about the "okay, let me try again" I tried posting and it never went through lol!

Alright, Note to self, when going to order these Call to make sure to get the right sidewall

Ric
10-11-2011, 07:22 PM
no woories YotaFun, they did seem like good people, you just have let them know what sidewalls you want, they may not have when you call, but if you pay for them as soon as they get them in, you are first on the list, thats what I undersstood, lol

Gotcha, sounds good, next week I will have to give them a call once my check clears, my bald pizza cutter 255s are causing me braking issues lol

Local friend of mine just put a set of MTR tread (Firestone sidewalls) on his runner. he likes them so far. They aren't Treadwrights, just contributing due to a +1 for running retreads. :)

I have been running a set of 265/75R16's for about 5,000 miles and so far they have been great.

Ric, did you notice they are actually larger than the standard size? Mine measure about half way between 265's and 285's.

Ordering was easy, just called them up and asked for BFG AT sidewalls and Guard Dog tread.

I had the 285/75/16's in the MTR pattern with MTR sidewalls. I liked the tires alot and only bought the KM2 because they didnt offer a 35" at the time. My 33" treadwright ran tall for the size. I am leaning toward treadwrights for my next set of tires unless I can find something more agressive at a reasonable price.

Troy how many miles did you get out of your retreads?

troyboy162
10-19-2011, 02:25 PM
Its hard to say between rock abuse weekly and running them out of balance. I never wore them out completely. I wore the set of four down about %50 combined in about 15k. I'd say they are every bit a +40k tire if cared for like normal. Road warriors will probably see greater then 50k, but I like to leave a pile of rubber at the bottom of waterfalls myself haha

Ric
10-19-2011, 07:50 PM

Avy did you go 315?

Ric
10-20-2011, 11:53 AM
Nope not me, I went with 33s

flyfishexpert
10-20-2011, 02:22 PM

Yep, fat-fingered it.

YotaFun
10-20-2011, 03:39 PM
No I am going 285, I was planning on 315, but since in the winter I still use my truck to commute 70 miles a day I need something manageable till I regear.

YotaFun
10-20-2011, 03:40 PM
AND i'll have to wait till next week to order mine, truck need new rotors, pads, drums, shoes, spring set and an axle seal. That alone my cost for aftermarket parts even has put me over half what it will cost me to get the tires with shipping....

I hate having two vehicles sometimes and having the cost of keeping them up.

Ric
10-21-2011, 08:33 PM
another teaser:
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd139/Rix4rnr/2004%204Runner-new/Mods/33-TreadWright%20MTRs%20Oct%202011/2011-10-21_16-58-31_897.jpg

By the time I got them mounted and balanced, it was about 6 and I was STRAVING, so when I got done eating it was dark, so Ill get some shots tomorrow after work.

So far, I have nothing but praise, for Treadwright.com, customer service is A+, price is A+, shipping is A+ and so far the ride and quailty of these tires are another A+, I honestly cant tell any difference.
