Well, if you believe what the calguns guys say, then this is a stepping stone to shall issue CCW laws. It was a huge gamble and I hope it pays off.

Well the part about keeping records on long guns kind of makes sense, for tracking crimes. Ya?

When "Situation-X" is outlawed, only outlaws will "Situation-X". :chair:
OK, so I can pretty much forget carrying while visiting or traveling through parts of Richmond.

Let's play a little bit of "Devil's Advocate" here?

Check this, on tonight's news some Livermore guy's talking about going out on January 2nd and carrying an unloaded shotgun. They even showed part of the interview online where two officers came right up interrupting and telling him to "..stand up and assume the position on the wall here". :shake:

I guess that's why the bill had to come to pass. Picture this, you're in let's say downtown San Luis Obispo, and some hey-ya comes walking down the sidewalk with a shotgun in his arms? (Now remember, I was born and am now a California resident, but am also officially an Oregon resident after living there for so long..open carry, etc is commonplace there.)

I'd assume out here, after the rampage last week in Cupertino (http://www.mercurynews.com/crime-courts/ci_19053310) that he was out to knock off some heads and is a psycho-sociopath.

It's a tough line to walk, and apparently this is our line in the sand? If the gun advocates weren't so flamboyantly arrogant it wouldn't be an issue. The biggest complaint(s) came from Law Enforcement having to respond to so many calls of a visible weapon. These guys would have an unloaded pistol on one hip, with a double clip holder on the other, like they were heading to the range or something. Am I the only one who had his pistol visible and unloaded, but kept the clips in the lockbox of the vehicle. It isn't like I'd need to stop a robbery in progress while getting my Large Tuxedo Mocho Latte. There's a time and place for everything, enough people crossed the line between their personal and constitutional rights and outright arrogance, ruining it for the rest of us.

Now I gotta see the Alameda Sheriff, just to reapply. Yes, reapply, as in, it isn't necessarily the same process anymore. It's always some idiot that ruins it for all of us, and a politician who bandwagons an overzealous solution.

Becca - registration of long guns is nothing but an impingment to legal responsible gun owners.
There is handgun registration now, do you think that has drastically cut down on, or helped authorities track down those involved in, violent gun crime?

No matter what legal steps they take, the outlaws will always be outlaws. They didnt care that its against the law to shoot another person, why would they care if its against the law to have an unregistered gun?

The governments stance on gun control is this:
”The philosophy of gun control: Teenagers are roaring through town at 90MPH, where the speed limit is 25. Your solution is to lower the speed limit to 20.”

No, because criminals don't register their guns. They steal them.

Registration of guns is a stepping stone to later confiscation. Look up california sks confiscation and you'll see that it has already happened in the US.

Oh. I guess that makes sense. I just watch too many crime shows, but I tend to forget it doesn't happen like that in real life. I don't know much about guns, it's a recent thing for me. I got a buddy and his roommates into Top Shot haha.
