what rear end are you using there? love the IFS setup, even if it does kill the bed (hauling is obviously not the point of this vehicle)

MA67 or GA61 from what I can see there, hopefully? :D (MA/GA=Supra IRS) Of course that means if I'm right it's also rear disc. :D Half-backed the frame too with square tubing?

*I miss my red beasties (80 Celica and 86 Supra).

Cool. It appears you have a ton work into all your projects.

I think Corey's coming into his slow season like we are with bicycles. All sorts of cool and goofy stuff usually happens during the winter months. Slow downs mean you get to work on personal projects and still call them "Advertsing and Networking Expenses". :)

Reminds me, I need to find my Internet access receipts and say you all are in my "Consulting Team"! :D

not so ..
currently , the shop is BOOKED untill Aug 2012 .. we have no "slow time"

this build as with the Trekker build , will be built on my own time !! evenings and weekends

X2. This is CA, there is no off season for cycling. Only difference for cold weather is the decreased amount of bottles on a ride or water level in a camelback. I suppose if it's muddy I'd ride the SS.

After one kid and another on the way 'projects' get way back burner for multiple reasons. There is always time to ride though.

prepping the inner rockers for the new body mounts .. I of course found rust :( .. so now I have to fix that first .. I was really surprised , this cab was in awesome shape no rust at all , or so I thought .. just goes to show you , even if you think you have no rust .. you probabally do !!

undercoating wire wheeled off , and looking great

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1312.jpg

and cut out rust !!

also got the drivers side cleand and prepped this weekend

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1315.jpg

and :( .. drivers side has rust as well

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1316.jpg

I think to be safe , i'm going to cut it all out .. front and back rocker area , and strengthin both sides before I build the body mounts
and just for some giggles ..
heres the pile of removed edging and ground steel ..

so over the last week , I have been building my repair panels and today I was able to get them burnt in , rears as well

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1315-1.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1324.jpg

now with the rockers repaired , I was able to get the cab height finalized @ 9" from the rockers to the Ground . + I also started on the cab mounts
Because there are only going to be 4 mounts instead of 6 , I wanted to make sure there were going to be strong .
cut out some 3/16" plate and surrounded it with some tube
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1326.jpg

Tacked into place I will add some more supports later , when I turn the frame over .

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1327.jpg

1 more front frame mount tomorrow , then I can get on the front cab mount

and cab side mount

Bent up some 1/2" solid stock with the 3/16" plate . as well as a "fish plate" for the cab side , 1/2" stock actually goes threw the fish plate for a stronger "plug" weld , and a toyota stock body mount bushing , I now have the front mounted

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1328.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1331.jpg

and now the front of the cab is mounted
still have some supports and final welding to do when I can turn over the frame , but for now it's good to go

also .. the cab now has it final "stance"

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1329.jpg

so havent been able to do much on my own stuff lately , so It was nice today , when I found some time ..

built a smoothie cowl and got it trimmed

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1391.jpg

then I started on the flip front

cut the fenders in 1/2 , so they would be easier to work with ..
trimmed off the mount flanges , and "fit" them to the body .. got everything where I wanted , pulled it off , and glassed it

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1396.jpg

re installed , and "fit the bottom 1/2 of the fenders .. pulled it off , and glassed it

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1412.jpg

got the bed sides built .. OBVIOUSLY .. it's just "sitting there" just to get an "idea"

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1446.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1445.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/hot%20rod/SSPX1447.jpg

The rim/tire size is way to big .. to much offset .. so I need to at least throw on the OE stockers , to continue
and I'm thinkin a "bob" cuz it just seems to long ?

.

corax
03-08-2012, 07:16 PM
Long and low is never a bad look, but that is a bit much overhang and might cause you some grief pulling out of parking lots. Stunning, none-the-less. I really like the stance it has in those pics - you are keeping the tires wide on front and back, correct?

slacker
03-09-2012, 08:09 AM
yeah , not positive on the bob yet ,it might interfere with the fuel cell , so i dont know just yet . Yes , Tires are gonna be FAT , I'm going to be buying new ones , but I needed to get he body in place before I know exactly the offset I need . I want the fattest rubber I can stuff in there , both front and rear
