. . . and we've all been told not to even touch it as they don't want to have to fix anything (for example, the windshield is $6k, the engine undertray is north of $20k as are the fenders, etc. etc.)

ive used my winch more for pulling things out of the yard than i have for recovery (and certainly for self recovery, since im batting 1000 and havent been stuck in years!)

ive pulled 4 or 5 fence posts, a cloths line post, a pretty big plum tree, half a dozen bushes, and moved a couple of pallets.

Yep. I live about 1.5 miles from the Hatchery. I ride past the hatchery 4 days a week on my commute home. The singletrack pic is what lies between my neighborhood and the salmon.

It's a Motobacane from Bikes Direct. I'm about the 7th guy from my team that's bought one and I'm really happy with it. I asked my buddy that used to work for Litespeed about it and he said he'd buy one if he was in the market. Couldn't beat the price and bikes direct runs a really nice outfit. From what I can tell the frame was manufactured in May of 2010. I bought it about 3 months ago, new.

finally installed my Park TS-2.2

I love my TS-2. I bought it in '99 during my first tour to Barnett's. Since then it's paid for it self at least 3 times with builds and repairs. I have it on the plastic tilt base because it goes on the road with me and into the house on the coffee table so I can watch TV while I work.

Thanks but no thanks. I've had far too many SID's laying around in my day. I used to have that exact one as well as a red one.

That's a big reason I don't have one on the 4runner. I had one on my old truck and I used it once for self recovery and probably only 4 other times to recover. I used it about 100 times on stumps, trailers, a dumpster and an iron hand rail.

I offer my condolences for having a life like mine. :hillbill: Just kidding, I like to joke around about that but I really enjoy having projects. I HATE unreliable junk, so as long as things work reasonably well, I don't mind throwing some time at maintaining stuff. I can't handle poorly made things though.

I'm about to hit our HVAC's next week as well as the heating ducts, etc. ICKY ICKY!! What's the best thing to use on them to prevent all the dust sticking?

I'm not sure about preventing dust from sticking. I bought a ceiling fan five months ago that was advertised as having a coating on the fan blades that prevent dust from sticking. Yea, that doesn't work at all. To clean the blower, pull the squirrel cage out, remove the motor and dunk the blower wheel in hot water and simple green. Keep your HVAC filter changed regularly and the blower will stay much cleaner. I also found that the access door on attic-mount furnaces are not sealed, so when they're running the blower can suck in unfiltered, dusty attic air and pump it through the system. I added some 1/2" wide self-adhering foam tape to the inside of the door to reduce the amount of unfiltered air being drawn in.

(Aside from the airfilter and the regular oil change the only differences are 87 Octane and I swapped in a new muffler. APC 2.25" in/out with better back pressure. I've been playing around with different ways to wear the fixed blade, so I've been wearing it everyday. I think I finally found a good way to wear it, that's easy to reach with either hand, and isn't concealed (so it's legit). It also comes in handy since it's a bottle opener. I probably won't wear it everyday, just trying to get used to wearing it.

The other knife, I do use daily at work/home/everywhere. Opening up grout bags, tile boxes, punch, bottle opener, etc... I've had it a long time. It's older than Jackson and has always been my EDC (except one year where it was lost :laugh:)

I'm on a sponsored race team so if you show up you better race. At the start it started raining then all heck broke loose. This was after the race. It took a good 6 hours to fully disassemble the bike, repack bearings, overhaul parts, etc. My muddy carcass and bike made a mess of the 4runner inside and out.

Got my stupid new body mount's done.

I had to use the shop's 150gal tank and the air turned all the way up with my shiny new Snap-On HD Impact to break the welded nut loose. Way better method than struggling to try to get around the topside. Took only an hour on the left side today versus the 3+ hours yesterday.

One of my best clients almost lost their storefront to some idiot racer wannabe on HWY880 S/B today. Car blew through the retaining fence and took out the water main across the street from their front doors. (I'll get a better perspective shot later on.) What really sucked was the main Hetch-Hetchy Power lines are right there also.

Then Saturday was cool, went to PedalFest JackLondon to see industry people and do some work for a few extra $$$'s. Got home and packed to take the family on a local get-a-way since nothing going on Sunday.

So this is how my day started out. My front bumper got a baked finish today! I'd driven the wife and Lil'One to Gilroy Gardens. Was there maybe not even 10 minutes when an employee comes running up to me asking me to "..please move your truck away from the vehicle fire so we can get to it easier and your's doesn't get hit..."

This was probably the second fastest I've ran as an adult since my back injuries. As I pulled away I could see the other car's sides letting off heat and kind of smoking so I managed to grab some phone pics quickly. I was right next to the S-10, their grille got a little melted and both the Honda Pilot and darker Tahoe got their sides singed. The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. My passenger fender got a little heat to it but all good. We got lucky. Drove fine all the way home and when I refuelled we realized we got 18mpg this trip. :D

*Side note here, is it just me or is it weird that a Fire Dept Official driving this silver E-plated car parks there to help things out like it's OK? I know that things won't go boom like in the movies but he just parks there and gets out and goes to work??
