Cordova has recived 15 FEET of snow in the past two weeks. They've declared a state of emergency, brought in the National Gaurd and air dropped a snow melting machine and shovels, lots of shovels.

I spotted this 3rd Gen 4runner:

Check out the rest of the pics.

Yea, crazy amount of snow they have received. At least the 4Runner guy is in good shape. :)

Around Tahoe this past year they got crazy amounts of snow that made for some awesome pictures. Only difference is that it was spread out over a longer period of time. Other than the threat of collapsed roofs was ventilation around propane tanks. The snow would encapsulate the fumes and there were a few big explosions.

Yeah, you only need a little snow each day to have a huge total by the end of the season, but it has time to melt away. Pile 15 feet on your house in two weeks and you're in trouble.

That's crazy about the explosions! The biggest deal up here is getting a ton of powder, then getting rain. It gets SUPER heavy and wet and that's what collapses roofs. Then add in freezing weather after a rain and it's a nightmare of huge slabs of ice.

We're going to get an Arctic low in two days and temp will drop by 40 degrees, but we lost all of our snow at sea level, so we'll be fine.

that's crazy!

So they airdropped a "snow melting machine"? Was it just a box of bic lighters and firewood? LOL

LOL! I can't find a picture now from some reason, but it looks like a big red dumpster that they load from one end with a loader and it's covered on the other end. It's fueled by diesel or heating oil and it's basically a big boiler that then dumps the water into the a near by storm drain. The article said it burns 40 gal of fuel an hour.
