So, i try putting my truck in park, and it works... but the key doesn't turn off... the key will not come out the ignition, it just turns enough to kill all the electronics... anyone know whats wrong?? please help...
Turn the wheel more and try to remove the key. That doesnt work you need a new ignition.

Try cranking truck, taking it out of park, and running the shift selector up and down through the gears a couple of times, and put it back into park firmly. Try to remove the key.
Also try cranking, back it up a few feet, put it back in park and try again to remove key, if still persists try moving forward and trying again.
Before I went the new ignition route, if above all fails, I would also try crawling under truck, and unbolt shift selector arm from the actual trans shift lever, and move the shift lever manually into park, see if the key comes out, if so, there is just some adjustment that needs doing on that linkage.

Ive tried the forward and reverse technique, and the moving the lever through all the gears. Ive also tried putting it in 4wd and trying that too, but it all failed. Ill try the removal of the gear selector arm this weekend. Thanks. I don't feel safe leaving my truck at the mall with the key in the ignition..... 04 Rocko Taco, would you happen to have a pic of the gear selector arm you could post for me? Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Let me look and see if I can come up with one. It will be pretty obvious should be on the driver side of the transmission. I'll see if I can hunt up a picture though.

sweet, thanks guys. Ill have to check it out and see. I also stopped by my Toyota shop and asked my friends about it. They said, it could be the whole ignition thing. Only costs about $100... not too bad i don't think, plus it comes with new keys.. but, ill see what i can find out under the truck.

Would a bad connetion to the battery, due to the battery cable maybe cause it? When i unhook the battery cable, and try to pull the key, it comes out... Any thoughts?
