I finally got my hands on an inclinometer for the 4runner, it's even color matched to my blue interior.

Only problem is that the inclinometers are way out of adjustment and the adjustment knob doesn't work. The far right one is pegged at 30 degrees forward and has to be tilted way back before it's level while the side to side one is about 10 degrees off.  There is something rattleing around inside and I kind of think that something came off the back of the adjustment knob.

I just sent an email to the seller and therefore haven't heard back yet, so I'm not bashing anyone.  I was really just hoping that I could just fix it.  Has anyone here had theirs torn apart or tried to fix one?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll post some pics up here in a little bit.

Edit: I did hear back from the seller and he was very apologetic and was willing to help me get it fixed.  Definately looks like it happened during shipment from Japan.  Even though I got it fixed, it was nice to know that he was willing to work with me to make it right.  I got it from cbrsport17 on TOF. I give him  thumbup thumbup

Here are some pics showing what I did.  It was pretty simple and self explanatory to tear it down.  Once the clinometer was removed it was a little bit harder to figure out how to fix the front to back adjustment.  I finally figured out that one of the gears just needed to be "skipped" back quite a few teeth as someone must have cranked on it at one time and "skipped" it forward.

Fixing the left to right adjustment was easier as it was pretty obvious what piece was missing. Not to mention, it fell out when I opened the unit up.

Broken inclinometer:
L to R out by 10+ degrees and F to B pegged at 30 degrees forward and no adjustment

All broken down:

Now hopefully I'll get it mounted this weekend.

Got her mounted up today.  Still have some finishing touches to do, but it's ready for the trail on Sat.

I haven't adjusted the clinos yet since my driveway is not level.  Once I get it on level ground I can zero them out.  Since it is for the righthand drive Hilux Surf like Corax said, it angles with my dash rather than staying level.  Oh well, that is what the adjustments are for. greengrin  I searched the internet for pics of them mounted in a hilux surf, but couldn't find any really good pics that showed exactly where it is mounted.  I think I came close though.

Yes my truck is extremely dusty because I use the heck out of it.

My view of it from the driver's seat.

Closeup,  I plan on filling in the gap with either some black or blue neopreme that I have.

The gap really can't be seen unless you get down low and look at it.

The mounting nuts were a pain to put on under the dash.  I'll take more pics and do a writeup when I take it out to put the neopreme on it, if anyone is interested.

laugh That was the best one I also found in a couple days of searching.  I think it was in a "for sale" ad.  Bummer it couldn't be zoomed in on.

I've never seen a part number for them, especially considering they were never available in the U.S.  You could always contact Northridge Toyota Parts to see if Rafa can find a part number, click on their name under the site sponsors.  I highly doubt you will be able to find a number, let alone find a new one.  Everyone is getting them off ebay or from someone overseas who pulls them out of junkyards.

Good luck on your search and welcome to UY. greengrin
