it was a hoot.  i got a late start friday night after work, had to wire/mount 2 lightforce 240's on the bumper alos fitting a mini skid plate between the bumper and engine skid plate.  i pulled in 6am saturday morning, it was cold and wet.  i didn't make a reservation in advance that ended up me leaving at 11pm because i couldn't get a camping pass.

i was so tired to take pictures due to lack of sleep, here is the group pic:

i was too chicken to try this during daytime:

but we did went out for a late night run, the darkness brought up my courage( basically because i couldn't see what the hell i was getting myself into) i did go through some big drops and climbbed some big ridges, at the last one, i was airborn and landed hard while in 2nd gear 4wd Hi wide open throttle, and that lack of experience caused a big cloud of black smoke coming from under the truck, "i think i toasting my brand new marlin clutch"....duh!  thanks to fellow members of the group led me out after the clutch cooled down and i made home without a glitch.

i, so as everybody eles had a great time like always, can't appreciate enough of the organizers and sponsor's who made this fun event a reality.

This was a blast, Unfortunatley i dont have any highspeed action shots.
But this was fun.

Many thanks to Chris, Both of them actually, Tofer helped me rebuild my hub on the sandy and windy beach, but we got it working.
Chris and Lance did a great job setting everything up.
I had a blast wheeling the dunes and meeting everyone.

I would also like to personally thank Splash Cafe for generously offering us the clam chowder and chili for those that wanted a warm hearty meal. Thanks also to Demello Offroad, Icon Dynamics, Lightforce, Northridge Toyota, Poly Performance and Sand Addiction Magazine for everything. Please make sure to show your support to all of the vendors that helped support this event as they work hard to make sure we enjoy our hobbies!

This year we featured a new event called the GPS challenge. The purpose of the challenge was to locate 5 GPS coordinates which had a challenge buried at each site. Complete the challenge and return back to base camp. We had a handful of challengers but only 2 members successfully locate and complete the challenge. Here were the 5 coordinates that the challengers had to face:

Site #1
N 35.03.527 W 120.38.355
Challenge: What state are we in?

Site #2
N 35.03.697 W 120.37.736
Challenge: SAS or LT?

Site #3
N 35.03.094 W 120.37.271
Challenge: Which came first; the chicken or the egg?

Site #4
N 35.03.226 W 120.36.931
Challenge: 2WD or 4WD?

Site #5
N 35.02.859 W 120.36.735
Challenge: What vehicle are you driving?

*** Site #2 proved to be really difficult to find because this coordinate was located right behind the event logistics booth. You had to literally walk around the camp site to find this spot which proved to be challenging and funny to watch smile

We hope that everyone had a great time out in the dunes. We thank everyone for making this event a great success. We hope that we can expand our GPS challenge next year by adding a few physical challenges this time as well as more participants!

We can't wait until next year and look forward to see all of you again!

The tent connected to the rear of the 4runner.  I can swing the tire carrier out and get more room to load and unload stuffs.

I got the "thing"/canopy on the side of the 4runner for $10 at REI garage sale.  I don't know what or where it came from.  I saw it for 10 bucks and think I make a "poor man" canopy out of it.  I didn't completely set it up as far as tie it down good.

Here are my contributions to the pictures.  Hope you enjoy.  I want to thank Mark (pulled me out), Andrie, and (sorry I forgot your name) with girlfriend/wife for helping me air down my tire.

Got stuck before air down.

I'll have to make this one quick:

Thank you all who came out, braved the wind, and had some fun in the sand! I apologize if I did not get around to meeting with everyone and getting to ride with you all.  We plan on adding more event staff next year, so that we will be able to mingle more and ride more. smile

Huge thanks to all of the vendors and members who helped to support this event and insure its success. I am continually impressed with the generosity of the businesses in our sport.  Please remember to support these businesses when it comes time to add to your rig.

Lance, thanks for all the help getting this organized and keeping us on track.  Also, thanks for getting Chaos Edition out this year. smile

Jenn, thanks for getting the kids prizes set up and passed out.

Jenn, Justin, Dan, Sean, Avy, Sarah, and April, thank you for serving up the clam chowder and letting us use the RV to serve it.  This was a huge help and allowed me a little time to get around and chat with everyone.

Milton, thanks for getting us the raffle tix at the last minute! That saved us!

I'm sure there are others that I'm leaving out, so thank you to all!

One last thing, thank you for doing such a great job policing the area for all the trash.  I checked when we left and it was very clean.  In fact, there was trash in the area when I first set up camp, so we definately left it in better shape.

I hope to see you all next year!
