here's a quick off topic question since we're talking low fuel lights . . . does the 1st gen SR5 gauge cluster have a low fuel light? I thought it did, but never actually saw it light up. maybe my non-SR5 'runner doesn't have the sensor bit in the tank to make it light?

No low fuel light for the first gen runner sr5. I ran that one out of gas too...:hillbill:

cool cool - good to know so I don't waste my time trying to figure out why it doesn't work, but I swear I remember reading something about it in the owner's manual. Maybe the manual was a generic "world model" manual translated for the American market, alot of foreign manufacturers used to do that to save money

Haha. Some of those translated manuals are funny to read. Most languages don't translate straight across so the syntax gets a bit dorky. The best ones are direct translations from Chinese to English.
