  1. Re: Transmission/Differentials / When to change?

Been doing mine about every 2 years. I just fit it in when I cannot remember when I did it last and I have a few extra bucks for the fluid.
  2. Re: Water pump failed, truck overheated and blown head gasket

Excellent to hear MTL. Does it get any better than tooling around in the 4runner in the snow. Sometimes the wife asks me where I went after snow blowing and moving the cars around....

    Re: Spark Plug gapping

I think you have to be careful on this one because many of the grounds I have seen are curved, to match the electrode, and cannot be properly gapped by just sliding a straight metal gauge in there. I...

    Re: Help.....Valve cover gasket question

Ouch - $470!? That is a tough nut for a relatively easy job with a cheap parts list. That is the reason I DIY.

Glad you got it fixed though...

    Re: Electrical Trouble Shooting

I had heard that about the Optimas. If the battery is dead then this all makes sense. Get the battery tested or throw a charger on it and see if it holds a charge.

Re: Suspension squeak driving me crazy

I bet the squeak is the Sway bar bushings. Slide under and have someone puch down on the hood to eliminate that one.

Re: Question on timing belt, water pump and etc

You may consider this part of the hoses mentiones but replacing the clamps at the same is a good idea. In addition, I had the small hose off the thermostat housing / WP leak after I did mine. Change...

Just in case anyone cares or searches...

This aftermarket, and others from what I hear, I designed to go on the right rear side of the vehicle, as opposed to the stock unit. I can only assume that...

Re: How do I remove a rusty nut or bolt?

Been there and it was a total clusterfook. Ended up using multiple tiny carbide bits (broke a few) to drill out tiny bits around it. Talk about patience.

    Re: 100k mile maint. question

100k seems like a good time to do the following if they have never been done..

    Brake Fluid flush
Bushing change out - sway bar, endlink, and steering rack. If I had read up on the steering rack...
  22. Re: How many miles before you replaced your shocks?

I use 75k as a general rule - that is so I do it by the time I hit 80 or 85k. They wear out after a while and you do not really notice it til they are bad or you just install new ones.
