  1. Re: $50 Craigslist Score: Toyota Hood w/scoop! (pics inside)

I actually left the everything on and just (cafefully) Dremel'd the blocked end with the hood off and upside down on saw horses. I did it such that there is a bit of a lip on top directing air down...
  2. Re: $50 Craigslist Score: Toyota Hood w/scoop! (pics inside)

Right on, thanks man! I am still happy with the scoop and it's holding up great!

    Re: Stevo3's Fuel Upgrade Thread

If we don't go camping I will try to stop by during the tuning session at Doug's this weekend. :)

That stumble might be the lack of a IAC connector (often missed when purchasing a used SC'r kit),...
  4. Re: My new toy: All-weather Ruger 10/22 w/scope *pics*

Shot a couple hundred rounds through the 10/22 this weekend while camping. All I have to say is that this thing is awesome! Once the scope was dialed in the rifle was dead-on. It was so quiet that I...

    Re: Deck Plate Mod?

    It's good for a documented 5WHP on a supercharged 5VZFE (with proper tuning mods). I hear it's just as good on a N/A 5VZFE.

I keep mine capped during the summer so it draws air in from the fender....

Return to thread after "post" is clicked

I looked through all these threads but didn't see exactly what I was looking for. If I missed it, I'm sorry.

Anyway, it's pretty simple. After someone creates a thread or replies in a thread, it...

    Re: Stevo3's Fuel Upgrade Thread

Oh yeah, I forgot you had that 1st gen. My bad!

I guess it's possible they have some of those lying around too, but unlikely.
  9. Re: Useless Trivia: Tell us something we wouldn't know.

If the family name remained in place, "Toyota" would actually be "Toyoda."

The terms "upper case" and "lower case" actually refer to the type cases used for letterpress printing or typesetting...

    Re: Stevo3's Fuel Upgrade Thread

I am willing to bet Magnuson has some rebuilt TRD superchargers around. The reason I say that is because they turned mine in a day and unless they're hurting for business (pretty sure they're not),...

    Re: Stevo3's Fuel Upgrade Thread

How about mounting the FTC behind the passenger side kick panel? My SMT is there.
  12. Summary

Initial testing reveals underhood temps to be 5 - 15 degrees cooler on average. My most surprising finding (I didn't expect this) is that the scoop appears to be most beneficial at idle. An example...
  13. Re: $50 Craigslist Score: Toyota Hood w/scoop! (pics inside)

LOL! Yes! I am going to swiss-cheese my front end! My wife is like, "Why don't you just run with the hood off?"

Next mod: Z3 fender vents. Thanks Bob! Ha ha ha.
  14. Re: $50 Craigslist Score: Toyota Hood w/scoop! (pics inside)

Thanks Steve! It'll be really cool when you get your rig up and running!

Initial temperature testing is in. I am now compiling all the data. One thing is for sure, the hood scoop definitely makes...

    Re: True Flow Intake System

Be sure to reset your ECU when you install a part like this. Best method to really clear it is to pull the NEG and step on the brake for 10 seconds.

    Re: 20w50 oil in 5vz-fe?

Me too. Here in the Sonoran Desert I have always used what the manufacturer recommends; 5W-30 Mobil Synthetic. Never had an oil-related issue. I run this in my 4Runner (97K miles) and our Accord...
  18. Re: $50 Craigslist Score: Toyota Hood w/scoop! (pics inside)

Thanks guys! I can't wait to get it out of the garage either. Here's a pic since we are on page 4 now...

  19. Re: $50 Craigslist Score: Toyota Hood w/scoop! (pics inside)

Well, it's definitely different! I am going to have to let it grow on me. Also, I need to get it out of the garage and take some pics. Thoughts?

    Travis-

My wife works for Charles Schwab. Interested? Shoot me an email.
  21. Re: $50 Craigslist Score: Toyota Hood w/scoop! (pics inside)

No, it was sprayed thin, so that won't be an issue. Good question though.

They sprayed along the edge and I had previously primed it (black) so there should be no issue with the color showing.

That just plain sucks. Who's QA department screwed that one up? :)
  24. Re: $50 Craigslist Score: Toyota Hood w/scoop! (pics inside)

I am so happy I went with Line-X on the hood. Not only did it get rid of the scratches, but it also came out awesome. I will probably start a new thread once it's installed on my rig because I will...
