My new car camera: accident captured today

    Hi all,

Ever since that lying beotch hit me, I finally got the sense to buy a car camera. Quite frankly, driving around with the camera makes me feel more secure just in case bad chit happens.

I was on the phone with Lance today on the 57 North when I captured a little car following a truck too close and ramming it in the back. It looked to be worse hence my "big time accident" comment, but alas, it was just a little accidente'

    I purchased this model: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can check out the specs on your own. Daylight is good, night time is not so good. But it was rated by a few sites as a best bang for the buck, so I bought it.

Wow. Crazy. I want to get one so bad, but I don't drive enough to warrant one right now.

Cool! I bet that will come in handy with all the traffic out there. I've been wanting to get a dash cam as well.

Bob, does your camera come on when you turn on the ignition, or does it use the motion detection to turn on?

Also, baiklov the store you ordered it from?

    Guys,

Here's the edited version. Just getting used to the Youtube editor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gr5_uvtgv2o

It comes with a 12v car plug so it's not hard wired. it takes a 3.5mm male plug. It does have motion detection but from what I'vec read, its so-so.

Yes, Baiklov. So my battery only functionality didn't work. The guy (I called) said from time to time, he finds that the batteries don't work well. So he USPS'd a new battery after the call. 4 days later it arrived and the battery only mode worked.

    Cheap insurance!

I think it's the dash cam is a good idea, particularly in today's society.

I do wonder though if it would be better if it lacked audio? If you were involved in an accident that wasn't your fault, but they could hear you on the audio carrying on a phone conversation, could it bring up the question of whether or not you were "distracted during driving." I dunno, just a thought.

    Ken,

There's an option to turn the audio off. Good thought.

I have been wanting to get one aw well.
In our recent snow weather the idiots come out to play.
I had two cars on separate occasions right in front of me spin out, and witnessed a near miss.
It is definitely a smart idea with the drivers of today.
