Unfortunately, I won't be there this year. I'll be wrapping up my truck driving school by then (if I can get used to this double clutching mess).

Going to hit up the Mountain Rendezvous this year. It's a bit closer to home. We are planning to make the Turf & Surf though if any of you plan to be there.

Which school you attending? I went through CCS about a year and a half ago. With the military downsizing I didn't want to get out after hauling cargo for 10 years with nothing.

Double clutching is important for the road test but really once you get the rig rolling float shift is what you end up doing.

I'm going through the driving program at Sampson County Community College. It's pretty cheap since it's a State run college, and the program is accredited and much better as a whole when compared to the private ($$$$) truck driving schools.

I've got the double clutching on our 10 speed Volvos down pretty good now, but I still need to work on my downshifts and skip-shifting. Yesterday, I was put on our old 13 speed (driving like a 9) GMC White, and I didn't do so hot on that. Part of that was just me not knowing the shift patter as well as I thought, and part of it was the horrible instructor that I had with me.

Downshifting can be a pita to get right all the time because it will change with the truck. I had an instructor that would back up in high while talking on a cell phone. It was pretty impressive on the lot.
