Tacoma vs old Toyota pickup vs 4runner vs prado

Hi i wanted to know between the Tacoma, old Toyota pickup (89-94), 4runner, prado which was more rigidly built for off road conditions. Planning on going on a safari and bad roads are to be expected like thse

Any make/model will be sufficient for your needs. The real question is how maintained the vehicle is will determine how it will perform out during your safari. Assuming that everything is in great working order, a decent set of tires with ample height improvements with the minimum required armor should suffice. Newer vehicles will have all of the bells and whistles however that does come with potential issues when things break down you can potentially be screwed without more technical know-how to be able to fix whatever that broke whereas an older vehicle will be easier to make whatever necessary repairs as needed. Ultimately your own self knowledge of whatever vehicle you pick will be a huge factor in how you will do remotely.

Having extra recovery and repair equipment will be a must if you are going to be very far from civilization. Also factor in comms into your execution too.

Are you in the US? If so would you be shipping the vehicle overseas? It's kind of hard to pick a vehicle for someone else. Most of us drive vehicles that fit our needs and adventures here in the states. You have to keep in mind how many passengers you might have, distance you plan to travel and fuel options (there are many others but those pop up in my head).

For instance, in my case I would shy away from a pick up as I have 4 passengers and prefer a secure cargo area that is accessible from the passenger area. If you plan to cover very long distances and are away from facilities that carry parts and supplies you want a vehicle that has aftermarket options. Larger fuel tanks, on board air and water, as well a certain drivetrains will make the trip more enjoyable.

If I lived in a country that offered the 70 series Land Cruiser, that's what I would buy. Solid axles front and rear with diff locks all the way around. It's a pretty sweet ride. A 200 series would be nice too, if I could afford one.

You can't really go wrong with any of them.

Either an older 70 series or even a modern 70 series will be my vehicle of choice. 201x VDJ76R would replace everything I have if I was able to get one here.
