    Speedo reseting or calibration ?

Lets say I put a 22 inch tire and rim on my 4Runner, and the stock tire and rim are 265/70 16's Will I be able to recalibrate my spedo for the bigger tires, and is that something that can be done at Tire dealership or back to Toyota dealership? TJ

i should hope youre not putting a 22 inch rim AND tire on it! that would mean you have a 0 inch tire and lots of bling!

consider 265 70r16 is ~31" (more like 30.6), and you want to have 26" tires, youd be downgrading and so your speedo would be reading slightly ABOVE what your actual speed is. i assume you just made a typo or something but regardless, i've never seen anyone who successfully re calibrated at home, but if someone can prove me wrong, please show me how to do it!

you CAN recalibrate if you change overall tire diameter, yes. rim diameter doesnt have anything to do with it, its just the overall diameter of your tire/rim together that matters. no calibration will be perfect, but it can be improved. ive heard of tire shops being able to do this before. on my 33's i havent recalibrated and i am about 5% off. so when im going 70 on my speedo im really going 75-76 or so.

Like they said up above, an electric speedo will need an interface, an older mechanical one will just require a different gear set. I changed the one for my chevelle i had along time ago. Went to the dealership told them the tire size i went to and they gave me a different speedo gear.
