linux / samba / win connection help!

Ok it's not for me but for a buddy of mine...

He's got a linux box with samba running ldap and when he attempts to connect to it with a winxp workstation he can't. strangely he can connect to the shared folder on the linux box though.

anyone have any experience in this? we both googled it and it looks like there were some permissions that needed to be changed in winxp but even those changes hasn't worked.

    thanks!

Probably not helping you much, but whenever I install Ubuntu Linux and turn on the Samba server, I loose the ability to browse the windows network from the linux machine.
I can access the files on the linux machine just fine though.
I like bugging around with it, just don't have the time as it consumes so much of it.

o oops I forgot to reply back to my own post that I figured it out.

Purged user info and added the users back and it worked fine. go figure...
