    Anyone used Office 2007 Pro?

I am looking at having my company purchase Office 2007 Pro for my work laptop. They are a little hesistant on buying the license because of the compatability issues with older programs. I am aware of the compatability patch that Microsoft has released for the non-2007 owners to download so they can save, edit and view in the new format.

My question is for the people that have 07 is if you "save as" for 2002 Excel are there any issues for the person with the older Excel as far as editing and saving. Here is my senero, I work in a subsidiary and we don't want to make corp download the compatability software. They are on Office 2002, will they be able to use the data if they DO NOT download the compatability software and I save as an older format?

Yes. I've been running MSO 2007 for a couple months now without issue sharing .doc/.xls files with older clients. As long as documents/spreadsheets are "saved as" Word/Excel 97-2003 on your end (by clicking the large MSO circle insignia in the upper left), everything should be fine.

The compatibility patch simply allows older clients to open MSO 2007 files that have not already been saved in the older format.

Be prepared for an onslaught of support calls with MSO 2007! The user interface is completely different, which I kinda like, but many have complained they can't "find anything in the menus".

Thanks for the info! I will have them order it asap.

It's definately different, but it's growing on me.
I haven't seen any issues either as long as you follow what hillbilly said.

Saving in the older format is key as if you don't, users using the MAC version of Office will not be able to read the documents!

Re: Anyone used Office 2007 Pro?

I have been working with 2007 professional + for a couple of days now. The ribbons take some getting use to, but overall it isn't bad. It does seem to run a bit slower than the 2002 that I was using.. So far, so good with the compatability questions I had with previous office software.

Re: Anyone used Office 2007 Pro?

I've got 2007 on my pc. All the menus and whatnot are different in Word, but it's growing on me. It took a bit to get used to, but once you get familiar with it, I think it is easier to find what you are looking for. It's pretty different though. I save my documents as Word 97-03 and it works fine on older versions.

Powerpoint also has layout much like the new Word, but I haven't noticed any differences in Publisher.
