Hydroplane races, Water Follies 2007 Tri-Cities, WA 7/29/07 56k beware

This weekend was the water follies weekend. 3 days of hydroplane races and air shows. We headed down on Sunday and grabbed our traditional spot on the Pasco side of the river where we can get within 100 ft of the boats in the water for some great up close viewing, much closer than at Sea Fair.

Of course, Dave Villwock easily won the Cup, qualifying on Friday at 165 mph, 5 mph faster than anyone.

Air show was pretty week, but we had a A-10 do a fly over, in which I happened to catch on film the Thunderbolt take out a Seagull in the air.

Nice pics dude. I used to goto the Jet Boat races on the Salmon River in Riggins Idaho. That bird strike was scary. Sea Gulls can bring a plane that size down depending on where they hit. I've had sparrows leave holes in the leading edge of my wing in the big transport.
