Synthetic winch line use

Synthetic winch line is some pretty neat stuff. It's safer than steel, stronger than steel and lighter than steel. It's only draw backs are it's weakness to abrasion, heat and UV light. Below are some links to care and use of your synthetic line.

It's getting to be about that time for me to fix a section of my synthetic line - so this was a great tip!

Of course Scott lives like 15 miles from me - I can always drop and and see how he does it ;D

Or you could buy this cool product I got for free at the RoverRally I attended last weekend. They called it a chinese finger cuff device for syn lines. It is a piece of 1" webbing that is 6" long and then sewn together. Imagine a belt that you wear then put the buckle together and sew the back to the front. The instruction say to pull the line out thread this thing on the the 5 wrap mark the thread the line through. Seems easy enough (I'll post pics when I do it") Ideally it keeps 5 wraps on (good idea) and when pulled to that point the syn lines pulls against itself and stops without pulling out.

Ok so I got it on but not sure when I pulled against it it seemed to just slip, not sure if it's because I have a line protector or not, and its a heat shield thing not for abrasions.Though it might get taught when a load is placed on it!
