Finally a Tundra worthy of towing the toyota race vehicle

    http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/21/s...toyota-tundra/

looks pretty sexy with those 37" tires and huge front fenders. hopefully something like this will go into production, so the tundra can go play with the big boys. i even like the color!

i do have to add though, that the tundra is NOT meant to compete with the heavy duty trucks, such as the ford superduty, but rather compete with trucks like the F150 and other full size, half ton trucks.

500hp? WOW! Agreed it's no HD unless they make some other upgrades, but it's great to see that they are addressing it.

On the note of diesels, Toyota currently only plans to release the diesel for the Tundy. Apparently they're going to be pushing hard on their hybrid technologies for all other vehicles

well great thing about electric motors in offroad vehicles, there is no power band, power is delivered evenly and consistently with tons of torque.

still hate the idea of carrying a few hundred pounds of batteries with me offroad.

hopefully the tundra diesel will fit in my 3rd gen!

most diesels are heavy due to the massive block the enduce.

I thought about a cummins, but i would absolutely have to have a solid axle front with heavy freakin duty springs to hold up the cummins and a custom rear axle for the power.

4BT is about the best we can do for the 4runner, smaller and not as heavy. inline 4 cyl but can produce good amounts of power.
