id also look into the roof cargo box option as well...esp if you dont plan on running it 24/7. sure theyre not as cool looking as a surco or confer, BUT theyre more aerodynamic so they wont kill your mileage on long trips, lockable, and they keep things dry. definitely better for keeping lighter gear up top and the heavier stuff inside to keep COG low.
i was set on a surco or yak, but for the amount of times id actually use one, id rather get a lockable one, so i can have room inside for my rediculously large and heavy spare tire.
