okay guys, I need to know how to seperate the throwout bearing and the shift cup it rides on. I am assuming this is not one peice, so removal REALLY isnt my main concern so much as how the new one will go back on. Any ideas.... lets hear it.

Okay Bruce, this thing does not just pull apart....any ideas?
I've even tried knocking it off with a hammer....
It is finally starting to move a little bit....
But it seems it shouldn't be this hard if it is supposed to pull right off...

hehe, I meant it just pulls off the fork, which aparently you already did.......

Usually they bearing assembly is sold and a single unit, I guess your gonna need to press it off the shaft.....

Its a good thing that the throwout bearing just doesn't fall off. Use a bearing seperater/splitter and press it off.

Okay, so how hard is it going to be to put the new one on?
Bruce, you said it usually comes as a single unit, did you mean, on this little cup? Or not?

Chris, what I do with those is just find a socket that fits inside the throwout bearing, set it in a vice or something to support the bearing, and drive the cast part out the bottom of the bearing. They normally take a lot to get out (BFH) so don't be afraid to let 'er have it. But, if you have a press use that. Then, to install, put the new bearing face down on a block of wood, set the cast part in there, and use another block of wood and a hammer to drive it all the way in. I've done 4 or 5 like this so far and they've worked fine.

Also, while you have the tranny out you may want to throw a rear main seal in. Mine started leaking 2 weeks after I replaced the first clutch in my truck.
