What air compressor do you have?

You can't have a good home shop without a decent air compressor and of course people just setting up shop want to know what to get etc. So my thought was to get an idea of what people have in their home shops. Give us brand, model, specs (if you have em handy) and of course where you got it and how much you paid.

I have a Coleman Powermate CL0602712

Specs:

• 27 Gal tank
• 6 peak HP motor
• 110V
• 6 CFM @ 90PSI

It's a direct drive oil-less compressor and it's loud as hell.



It came from Wally World and cost me $399 CDN

i have a 2HP DeVilbiss.

i'll have to look up the specs, but it works OK for painting and airing up, but won't drive air tools for more than about 20-30 seconds.

for painting, 2HP w/ a typical SCFM would be minimum.

for air tools, i would think that a 4HP would be a bare minimum.

Does everything we need it to do and then some Had never given us problems either, and I heard Cobalt is a pretty good tool company.

I got the Kobalt 30 Gallon...its ok but I need more. Have another 27GAl air tank piped into that. I've had the head leak so far on it, fixed it, ran it about 2 more months and it started leaking again. I just put oil in it like a Chevy..

All I have is a twin tube contractor type Porter Cable 2hp 4gallon. Good for nailers, etc. I had a bigger Craftsman one , but sold it since it couldn't keep up with my blast cabinet air needs.

Eventually I plan to get a big 2 Stage from Eaton

It runs on 220V and comes with no specific adapter, just wires...so you'll have to do that yourself. It's rated at only 15A so it works fine with a dryer outlet and such.

As far as loudness, it's a 2-stage so it's pretty quiet. You can hear the motor spinning (which is a quiet humming noise) and then a tha-thunk-tha-thunk of the pump, if that makes any sense. Not bad at all.

Put it this way...if you're gonna run it in an attached garage, yes you'll hear it around the house, but I wouldn't call it annoying (that's what we do).

And for $499 it's a steal
