Thread: Slow to start

    Slow to start

    Again with the 01 4Runner...

Starting it involves allowing the engine to crank over four or five times before it catches. It then runs fast for a few seconds, and then perfectly. I'm guessing that the issue is spark plugs or fuel filter (as the lest expensive options) any other suggestions?

    Thanks

weak battery could do that too.

Agree with Lee. I had this on my truck for a few weeks until the battery just quit.

+3 on the weak battery. If it's been over 4 years on your current battery then I would suggest getting a new one. Not sure where you're located, but heat can really shorten a battery's lifespan.

    Re: Slow to start

i'm thinking it's a battery dying too. i can't wait for mine to finally bite it (SOON, crosses fingers) it's been 5-6 cranks on cold start for me lately.

when it dies, i can't WAIT to get my hands on one of these:
