"You Americans are so gullible, no you won't accept Communism outright. But we'll keep feeding you small doses of Socialism until you finally wake up and find you already have Communism. We won't have to fight you. We'll so weaken your economy unitl you fall like overipe fruit into our hands."

Yet, I still voted for McCain based on his principles, previous records, and willingness to stick his neck out against the majority/popularity. Simply put, Obama's predominant record of voting "present" didn't leave me much to go on. And his 20 year association with Rev. Wright just doesn't sit well with me.

For those upset by McCain's loss, you had your 8 year run. Including House & Senate majority, and completely blew it. I have no sympathy for you.

My fear is for my children's future. If handouts for those not willing to help themselves are made readily available, it will only breed complete and utter complacency.
    hillbilly,

i went independent 2 years ago b/c i was absolutely disgusted by the current administration's abject failure to reign in the very things that made me switch to them: corruption, arrogance, mismanagment, etc. the only thing good that i will take away from the administration is the war on terror. despite the left wing media's silence on the issue, we have killed or captured more of al queda's senior leadership than all years of the clinton administration. i like the fact that we tell other nations "we know you guys are harboring terrorist a, b and c...if you dont turn them over, we'll cross your border and f'g kill them ourselves". my hope is that this will continue, but obama seems so hell bent and drunk on his mission to "restore our prestige" in the world...which basically means like they did in the clinton days. which essentially meant "don't kill anybody until you see them with blood on their knives and you personally caught them doing it". a pussified america that bin laden said over and over again that "america is a paper tiger"

Agreed. The current Admin has alienated many. And the war on terror has helped, but hasn't been perfect either. First and foremost, had the Bush Admin just been straight with us on the reasoning up front, the People may have had an entirely different opinion of this effort now.

I'd like to see election rules changed to allow Independents to vote in Primaries. I see no reason why Independents shouldn't be able to influence Primaries just because they don't 'drink the Kool-Aid' of either the Republican/Democratic parties. The way I see it, Independents could vote for either a Rep/Dem candidate of their choosing, and those aligned with a respective party vote for one their parties candidates.

For 20 years, I have refused to align myself with either party just to play along. This year, I had several visitors stop by my door step hoping to sway my pre/post Primaries registration. The size/scope of Obama's campaign engine was well oiled and funded to have sent that may greeters to my rural doorstep.

...and now we see that we are well on our way to accepting socialism to save us from ourselves.

The trouble with socialism is that its voracious appetite for other people's money and produce eventually ovewhelms human incentive and consumes even itself.

It appears we are willing to consume more poison on the promise that in greater concentration it is the antidote.
