    85 "Toyota Bare Steelie"

TBS picked up this truck as a trade for car he hardly ever used anymore off of a guy on the boards. It had a pretty solid drivetrain (taken for Fortese 88 4runner) and an AWFULL body. it was covered in hurculiner that was falling off all over, full of bondo to cover the bullet holes from when the truck had previouly been stolen and thrashed. So he stripped it partially to chepo paint it but we discussed it and there was so much body work needed the idea was tossed around about the old bare steel hot rod....and with a trail rig the more dents the more charactor..so it was decided to leave it bare and eventually clear coat it. Since TBS(Justin) and I threw around alot of ideas while he was working on this and there were still so many I wanted to try out and he needed to off this project, I couldn't let it go.

There are none of the initial crap bedliner but heres some along the way of TBS stripping the bed and some of his initial work (bed bob, steering box), then some we did together (the Frenched chevy spring swap)

TBS braced and mounted the box for the xover steering, we cleaned up the gas tank while the bed was off initially then while I was on another project TBS battled his first interior cage...and did a good job.

Looking at this last pic I should mention that the body cut on the other side was lined up with the bumper how I wanted it so I will remark this side and do a little more trimming.

Painted bumper pics. Here is a close up of the end cap. I need to get this to my house to start on the EFI and wiring / assembly. I am going to wait on the anti wrap bar to make sure I have the rear weight right and check some clearances before I finish it up.

The removable section is for installation. I am thinking of running a tab from the removable section to the outside of the plate to tie it together to help out with rotational force (upward) from a side hit. I usually like to tie both the hitch and the side support to the frame mounting plate but the bobbed bed is right up against the end of the shortened frame rail...so this was the solution.
