Mounting the lights on the side mirrors might be a good idea but I remember those 170's being pretty large. Not sure if it'll stick out a lot or not. One other thing to note, depending on your DOT regulations you may need to keep a permanent cover while on paved road.

I know that for CA DOT laws, any lights above the headlamp requires a cover on pavement and only can be used on the trails (damn nazi's!)

One other option would be to mount it right at the corner of your fiberglass camper. As much as you don't want to that might be your best option. The only problem you might experience is that the lights may catch your side mirrors.

ok I'm out of ideas for now.

The shape and arm of the 170's wouldn't allow that to work. I wouldn't trust drilling through the plastic on my mirrors to hold lights. Not to mention, holy hood glare unless you had them pointed way outboard.

To be honest, I really don't need any more light up front, the 240's w/ the 55 watt HID is bright enough to see for at least a mile. And I have been tempted to have some good lights on the back of the camper. I'll toss the idea around in the ol' noggin some more, then go from there!
