Thread: Opposite Lock aux fuel tank question

Re: Opposite Lock aux fuel tank question

The reason I'm asking is NWMP does not make a tank for the 3rd gen 4runner. I thought Opposite Lock might be another option. If I knew which models were comparable between North America and Australia I could figure this out. I'm currently working on mounting a gas tank from a 94 Cherokee.

im going to say that the one for a 90-95 4runner will not work with a 96+ 4runner. the frames are different, gas tanks on different sides, etc.

The Bruce's F150 Tank is certainly the closest I've seen so far to what I want. Mine will probably hang lower but it will have a skidplate. I'm wanting to fill the main tank from the aux tank and I'm not sure how the plumbing will work. T fitting into the vent line and I don't know how I'm going to run the filler neck or fill the main tank. I really don't like the idea of having the filler neck in the wheelwell like on the Downey tanks.

Re: Opposite Lock aux fuel tank question

Do you have any examples of the Prado tank being used in a 4runner? That sounds like a good option. I am working on repairing a plastic tank out of a jeep cherokee, for use as my aux tank. I paid $27 cdn for the tank and pump, but the junkyard punched a hole in the tank to drain the gas out.

being a plastics guy, im going to highly recommend AGAINST repairing that plastic fuel tank...

please do yourself and your fellow drivers a favor, put a crowbar in your wallet and buy a tank sans hole...

as for importing a tank, will work as long as you arent in a state that adheres to CARB rules.
