came across this on the VV4W forums:

figured id post a heads up here. nothing to get nervous about but something to be aware of if it catches on as the new hippie cool thing to do. ive seen this kind of thing back home as a anti logging ecoterrorism. its really a stage 1 action for these type of people... so its good to get in the habit of being on the watch for it.

not sure where the 2N43 is but it sounds like its by deep creek/dishpan springs/lake arrowhead area

so the newest back country mod to get in and out will be to hang a magnetic nail sweeper off the front bumper?

    . . . BTW, I would hardly call this eco-terrorism . . .

maybe your right lol but i lump anything destructive with ecoterrorism. that makes it clear that its not tree hugging or letter writting...its criminal actions. next step is spike boards loosely camouflaged.

    I'd call it eco-criminal mischief

It could be either locals who want to limit access for themselves or someone trying to close it to everyone. It does sound like the same sort of activity as placing large spikes in trees for the tree fallers to find, or chaining yourself to a logging bridge

you know what the solution is to this right?

point a video camera at the nails and wait for an animal to either be hurt, killed, or encroached upon by them.

thats what you call 'drowning a fish in water'
