engage cantilevers into 3rd gen T4R

    http://customtacos.com/forum/showthr...ght=cantilever

Any of you fab specialist think this would be doable? Engage just does not have the time to work on this, not really a priority..Although they have a 3rd gen chassis sitting against a wall in the shop.

I think this would be pretty sick under my 98 4runner w/10" bypass.

With enough time anyone can build anything

The only drawback I see on this design is that you lose out on the ability to either store a spare or primary/secondary fuel tank.

I've seen similar designs done on other taco's and other vehicles with great success.

Looks good, what worries me is the link where it actually connects to the axle seems AWFULLY small compared to the rest of the kit.

    Sure, go for it.

    Shouldn't be too hard.

the kit in that configuration will not work in the 4Runner. first the mounts to the axle are right where our coil spring are located. Which really isn't that big of a deal, but the crossmember for the panhard bar will be in the way. I looked into doing a similar system way back when, even thought about putting it forward of the rear axle after relocating the fuel tank. The current system I'm running is maxing out the travel that the stock suspension links can handle.

roger that, kinda fig'd that putting in the cantlvrs would require all new links...$$$$$

Might as well build a 2wd tacoma at that point.

I keep going back to chaplains...with the jounce inside of the coils..ease of install, keep spare tire location, save more money for trips and other interests.

Re: engage cantilevers into 3rd gen T4R

If I had infinite time and infinite money, I imagine I would do a triangulated 4-link with cantilever coilovers in place of the spare. That would be frickin' SICK.

In reality though, I think a setup like chaplain's is probably the best way to go. Like he says "it's still only a 4Runner."

It doesn't look like it would be an easy adaptation. What kind of vehicle is it currently on?

If you really want to do a 4 link setup, I highly recommend that you read this:

    http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204893

And then download the most recent 4link calculator. Use the calculator to figure out what kind of 4 link setup you want. And then build it from there.

    good luck
