Next tire purchase

I am trying to pre plan my next tire purchase
History
When my Fj was new I got some moto metal alloys and 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. I thought they were the worst tires in the world. No Grip, no mud and I could not balance them to save my life.
It turns out I think it was the wheels that had a problem.
I got a deal on some barely used Hankook Dyna-pro M/T same size and I converted to stock steelies.
They actually were nice. Always balanced out and seemed to grip good in mud and on the rocks. Then I got a deal on some stock steelies and Goodrich KM2's, Same size. The Hankooks still had life but I wanted to try the KM2's
So that's what I have now.
My impressions of the KM2's is they bite well but not better than the Hankooks . They do seem to chunk and the sidewalls gouge easily. They seem to wear more quickly too.
So I want to go to 35's
I found some 2010 16" FJ Alloys and want to mount a 315/75/16 or 35 on them.
Here are the choices I was thinking Hankook dyna pro M/T, They are very reasonable, or try the new Nitto Trail grappler, if they have the 35 size for 16's yet, or get the KM2's in the 35. Any thoughts on these choices?

you may also want to consider the cooper discoverer stt's... they're a great on and off-road tire, esp in the 35 inch size. they also wear well, and unlike a lot of good wheeling tires, they balance out just fine.

In all, the Cooper Discoverer STT proved itself a very capable and user-friendly tire. It has the attitude of a mud-terrain tread but still responds with authority to highway and other on-road driving situations. Aside from its impressive performance abilities, we also really liked the design and appearance of the Discoverer STT and received similar impressions from all others we encountered who noticed the new treads.

I think I have to ad those to the mix. They seems to be reasonable in price too.

Ditto the coopers, I would also look into the firestone MT.

As for the wheels-gotta find a shop that does road force balancing and uses the special adapter. Toyota wheels never balance easy it seems.

make sure those 16" wheels will clear your brakes if yours came with 17" wheels. just saves alot of headaches later! i would actually take your current wheel and tire off and mount the 16" to see if they clear the caliper, etc.

The wheels I am getting are off an fj, fitting them is not an issue, however I may need spacers to fit the 35's on. I hope I don't, but the we will see. The goal is more ground cllearane for Moab in the spring.

doesn't matter what they are off of, if they're 16's and your truck came with 17's there may be a clearance issue with the brakes...

unless you know for sure the brakes are the same?

ditto, heck, I bought a set of Mickey Thompson Classic IIs for my truck in a 16" variety, and even though my truck came with 16" they didn't fit!

So always good to double check so you don't have an issue in the long run

FJ's have the options of 16" or 17" These are just the 16' option. Nothing has changed with wheels, tires, offset, brakes etc. They do fit my truck. I am more concerned with the width of a 35 inch tire. I know they will fit the rim, but I am concerned about them rubbing the UCA's or swaybar at lock. I guess I will find out when I try one. I will just order spacers if I have too. I already have 285/70/17's and KM2's. So when I have the tires mounted I am not stuck without wheels till I get the spacers, if that is a problem.
