A 4runner is one thing but there aren't even people around giving away beat to hell, rusty, smokey, old junkers .

You always hear of stories "Someone was throwing this out", "they almost paid me to take it", "crusing craigslist". etc.

If a guy wanted 600+hp he would be time and money ahead to just go 2JZ...

Whoa, that trucks looks like it's in great shape. And free? Niiiice.

Now I'm just waiting to see Bruce OMF beadlock-ize those wheels, haha.

Sounds like a fun project. I'll have to check it out next time I'm in LA.

    Good score.

I'll be watching how well that 4.0 fits in there.

Regarding the 1grfe, do you think it would be possible to remove the oil sump housing and make a front facing sump oil pan similar to what the 3rd gen already has? Or... since its already a rear facing sump, dare I say SAS?

well, since people have SAS'd 4th gen 4runners, i say its possible :-P

also, if you have fab skills (which i know for a fact Bruce has) it would definitely be possible to make a front sump, whether it would be easy or practical, however, is another matter entirely, and one that i cannot answer for you.

Making a new sump would be easy for me now since I have a CNC mill. Thought about going that route. For now it will be 2WD, however I will be installing the 6-speed 4WD tranny, so making it a 4x4 in the future is a very strong possibility. If I can manage to get a free Diamond front axle, I will surely go SAS on it. The budget dictates keeping it 2WD until I get the engine installed and the electricals all rewired. Got both schematics and currently drawing up a new diagram on the conversion, this will take some time to complete, even before I can start the engine install.

As for painting, that will be deterimined if I can eventually get a willing sponsor....
