Yes, I've had wild boar, very good eating. At Surf n Turf, there were a couple years where a group would bring one and cook it over coals on the beach. It was delicious!

Nice pig Chris. So did it drop pretty easy? All the guys I know that hunt pigs have stories of how hard it can be to drop a big pig. Even then I'm not sure the big ones taste all that well.

First shot (straight through the mouth), dropped it. I rushed and missed two follow up shots while it was flopping on the ground, trying to finish it off and get it still before it started rolling down the hill into the brush. I forgot I needed to aim low on those two since I was zeroed for 300 meters and this was at 70
meters. 4th shot put it down. The guide did have a bigger caliber with him in case we ran into a big one. With the bigger ones, it definitely needs to have well placed shots.

this was a guided trip? youve peeked my interest lol. How much does something like this cost? do they offer butcher and packing services?

Yes and no, LOL! I was working on a custom house on a ranch that they do guided pig hunts from time to time. I would stay out there most nights instead of coming home because the commute and mileage was so long and I happened to be there during one of their hunts. In the evenings, I would end up hanging out with the owner and his friends who were helping guide. I hit it off with them and he told me he would take me one morning after the group was gone. Left at 5am and I was back working on his house by 10am LOL!
I don't know how much he charges and I kind of think it's more of something he just does for groups, and his friends/aquaintances. I think it's something like $500 for a two day hunt and then another $200 if you want to stay in the hunting house. They gut, skin, and halve the pig for you, but I think it is up to you to transport to a butcher shop. Mine is small enough that I am just going to slow roast the two halves, so no butcher needed. He also showed me/helped me skin mine and I pretty much skinned the one that his buddy got that same morning. I was just as excited to learn how to do that as I was about hunting.
