    Garage Transformation

I know i am not alone here when i tell you i have a messy garage. actually, it's my parents' messy garage, but thats not important.

we have lived here over 8 years, and the garage has been uninhabitable since day 1. so i set about to clean it up.

here are some "during" shots. it had to get worse to get better.

the real problem is, we have alot of tools. wood working tools take up most of the room. plus, we have alot of 'stuff' that we dont want to part with (although i have filled several large cans full of both trash and recycle, plus several large boxes of hazardous waste to go to the city this weekend). we built the storage system along the wall to provide storage above some of the large tools, and this has helped greatly.

so by no means is it done, but here is the result of several days of sorting stuff into boxes so they can be gone through and further organized at a later date.

and the real reason i cleaned and organized some:

now i can work on my vw indoors!!! and any other car that may need service.

Nice work, and nice car - what's the plan for it?! I have some packing up I need to do, I need to get all my stuff in my room at my parents house packed up. I was gonna do it over thanksgiving but now I might not get to go home for thanksgiving, boo.

    Re: Garage Transformation

I love me a clean garage. For the most part I know when someone has been in it messing with stuff. I also know who it was. For the most part Maggie only messes with junk about knee high. As such I've got a metal cabinet for things like chemicals and paint. Sharp stuff is usually in a draw or put high. Anything high that could kill you if it fell is tied down. We also have some 3 folding tables and some chairs that are tethered to the wall. Last thing I want is to open the garage and see a table on the car hood (which is aluminum). When we bought a house I wanted yard (front and back) and a garage. The rest is just fine print.

    Re: Garage Transformation

its no where near clean. i have boxes and boxes of tools that need to be cleaned, sorted, put in their proper place, and then cataloged. but its at least a start!

http://www.ultimateyota.com/index.ph...6&topic=8762.0 for more info on the car.

the car shares space with many wood working tools, washer, dryer, sink, extra fridge and all that stuff that ends up in a garage. soon the wiring will be run so i can run the welder in the garage along with all the other power tools and such. by summer it should be done.

    Re: Garage Transformation

Looks good Sean! I need to do the same thing to my garage. It's kind of the wrong season for me to work with the garage door open though.

On another note, I got an email from Grizzly Industrial about their 24"x60" Anti-Fatigue Mats being on sale for $19.95 and thought I'd pass it along since you spend so much time in your garage http://www.grizzly.com/products/item...campaign=H4229
