    Geology field trip: Rainbow Basin

I went on a trip to Rainbow Basin, out near Barstow... I bet there are some good trails out there too! Geology trips always make me want to go wheelin' now lol.

A canyon leading to a really cool cave/tunnel.

    Some cool tilted layers.

    Preserved ripples.

Cool cloud formations. Never seen anything like it!

And a few more - just did it in two posts so I wouldn't have to get frustrated when it didn't let me post it all at once.

    More layers...

The 'cave' went all the way through so in reality it was more like a tunnel...

A bit over-edited, but it gives some meaning to 'rainbow basin'

I love the way this picture turned out, with the sky and all...

We got a flat tire on the 'road' out to the syncline... I was the one who noticed it... and I helped change it too...

Yup. Just felt like putting up some pics.

You mean the syncline? lol. Ya it looks pretty cool. The syncline doesn't look like all that but when you know the geology behind it... :P

Haha thanks! Its a bit off the beaten path... on the road out past the mortuary. It looks so much like the hills have eyes that when we were camping we were joking that the ppl in the mortuary were gonna come get us. :P

Ya I haven't been to Death Valley. There was a field trip for that like a week ago but I didn't have the time off work.

Bekah, do you have any hi-res pics from the trip? These are obviously posted here, so the res isn't great, but I was curious about a couple of your shots. Just shoot me a PM or something. Thanks!
